Well my I30 had a little scrape with a Chevy Van. I was stopped at a light then it turns green and I proceed to go. I am crossing an avenue with 4 lanes so it takes a little while to get to the other side as I am going straight when I see a pair of headlights coming towards me from my passenger side window. The guy was coming fast, around 35 to 40 mph and the only thing I could do was try to accelerate so that maybe, just maybe, he wouldn't hit me.

That was clearly not the case as he hit my rear quarter passenger side and spum me around. Thank god I accelerated and spun because if he hit me dead on the passenger door it would have been worse. He admitted it was 100% his fault and he said he just didnt see the red light. He wasnt even trying to run it because it must have taken me at least 4-5 seconds to cross those 3 lanes perpendicularly so 5 seconds after my light turned green then he hit me.

As for me I am in a decent amount of back and neck pain right now. It has only been a day from the accident. As for my car, well you guys tell me. I am trying to work on insurance (his insurance) to get my car into a shop. It is pending approval by his insurance.

BTW sorry for you 5g guys who were looking for a review for the subframe collars that i just bought. They flew out the trunk along with about $1500 worth of misc. stuff. I found like 4 pieces though that the tow truck driver threw back into my trunk.

I just did my suspension yesterday too with h&r's, new shocks, mounts and bellows. This sucks. I lost my motorcycle gear and everything.

Here are some pics.

Bummer! Sucks that you lost a bunch of stuff from your trunk also. Did they take you from the scene? Is that why you were not able to collect the things that flew out? Hope your feeling better with the back and all...pretty typical stuff after an accident. As for the car...doesn't look good. Who knows what the insurance will do, but I think they'll be leaning towards a total. There is a lot of money that is going to need to be spent to fix what you can see, and what you can't. Good luck! At least you're okay.

i bet they will fix it instead of totaling it out. for some reason if they want to total it and thats not what you want. your neck and back really hurt and you are thinking of getting a lawyer

GL man. glad you are seriously injured

Body damage isn't that bad but since the airbag went off that car is pretty much toast. Really sucks about your collars and gear. Try to inventory everything you just lost and if you can dig up receipts get them for everything. Insurance usually reimburses everything you can prove you just lost.

Thanks guys. Back and neck pain are a little worse today but it can only get better from here I hope. I was taken from the scene by an ambulance but the tow truck driver and my uncle tried to pick up what they can. The reason I had so much stuff in the trunk was that I take my car to my uncle's house to work on it since he has a huge garage. I was on the way back home when this happened like 5 min away from his house. I drove on my new suspension for like 4 miles lol. It was a great 4 miles though with no noises or anything.

I dont know if I am going to sue his insurance company unless my pain stays. I am not looking for money here I just want my car and my stuff I had in my car. If they will not reinburse me for all my gear, tools and parts then I will be forced to sue.

As for the car being totaled, I am not sure yet. I have a lot of suspension stuff on there and a lot of other misc stuff like led's everywhere, grounding kit, yellow top just to name a few. I also had an I35 conversion front and back, megan catback and led power folding mirrors. Now that I think about it the car has a lot of things on it some not removable like the tint and fully blacked-out headliner and pilars. The leather WAS perfect too.

If they do total it I wont get another maxima/I though. I have had bad luck with these cars....

Forgot to mention the rear beam is bent pretty badly and it throws both wheels out of alignment. Rear door wont open. Trunk wont close and is out of alignment. Also I think both rear struts are bent.

Glad you're okay, that could have been a lot worse. It sucks that you just spent all this time and money on upgrading the car, and some schmuck t-bones it.

A year and a half a go we had a hard hit in the rear passenger corner from a honda accord, and basically accordioned the rear right fender, bent the axle, and sent us flying into the car ahead of us and into oncoming traffic. We didn't get hit by the oncoming stuff, thankfully, but the damage was something like 12k, when our car was worth maybe 14 or so. For some reason they fixed it.

You'd figure they'd be unable to fix it, but when the car came back, it drove good as new. No weird tire wear, pulling, or anything. Both times the underside was inspected, even 2500 miles out of the shop, it came back "can't tell anything ever happened."

imo the cars pretty badly damaged with the rear beam being messed.
this is more than a 1500 job. a lot more. id think insurance is gonna total it esp cuz of the airbags.

keep us posted

When the frame is hit, chances are they will total the car. It will end up in the chop shop.

Glad you're ok.
