4x4 status...

You know, you guys aren't too far off.

On the Left the stock front coil off of my 02 Max SE. On the Right is a 4" lift coil for my Bronco.

Yes that is about a 1" difference.

And said Bronco with saggy versions of those springs on it:

?

The Maxima spring looks to be far less stiff than the truck spring, so it probably compresses more once it is on the car.

They're completely different springs.

Well no s*it, I put this up because of the height of the spring. Not because of the coils. In essence the Max spring is taller than a stock 1/2 ton truck spring and almost as tall as a 4" lift spring. Yes the coil width is smaller and there are less coils therefore less capacity but the damned thing is almost the same height. That is my point.

Not sure what response you were looking for but your response demonstrates eons of maturity and ability to accept feedback. Yes, visably there is a difference between the two when placed side-by-side off the springs respected vehicle. An apple and orange are both round two. Oh, and they tend to be about the same size. But, since we're actually comparing apples to oranges, Florida oranges are bigger than apples. Should I post a picture?

Actually, more coils should make the spring softer. Its the thickness of the bar the coil is made from in combination with a smaller diameter coil that makes the truck spring stiffer. The maxima stock spring will compress a whole lot more under the weight of the vehicle than the truck spring, so you really arent making an even comparison between stock ride heights.

Its kind of like saying a ferrari is about the same length as a ford pinto.....so they should perform the same.

It doesn't take an engineer to understand there's no point in comparing these springs.

But c'mon, you have to admit the picture is pretty cool, and that Froggy isn't shy about beating the crap out of his Bronco.

I took my driver's test in a '74 Ford Pinto Pony 4MT. Zero-to-sixty in about 40 seconds. Decidedly not a Ferrari.

Good one, Kevin.

My dad had one of these in 'Rusty Red' - till they were recalled - then he had a pocked full of cash.... so he got a Toyota SR5 Pickup....

Interesting discovery! Does your Maxima have the optional off road package? Mine does.
