I wasn't sure on an appropriate place for this question. Is there a particular place to find the VIN on an 02-06 engine? A friend is looking to buy a VQ for a swap and wants to run a carfax on a junked VQ he found. So we were wondering if there is a VIN etched into the engine anywhere?? Thanks for any help.

I know there is a plate on the firewall that has the vin number and the other location is on the driver side dash just at the lower corner visible through the windshield. Can't honestly say that I have ever noticed the vin number machined onto the engine block itself.

 

Engine serial # should be stamped on block behind fire wall side head just above where tranny bolts up.
