Coilovers just not participating...

K-sports in. Front look beautiful. My problem comes from the rear. The lowest perch hasn't been touched in what seems like FOREVER. The WILL NOT BREAK LOOSE!! Not the locking perch and the perch below the springs, The farthest one down. They're Kontrol pro's btw. Any luck? I've tried drowning them in wd40 and pb blaster...

I was trying this with them on the car. Bolted in. I figured i'd break that lower perch up than take the lower strut bolt out and spin it up to adjust ride height...

Any help would be appreciated..
Thanks.

I read somewhere earlier. Moncef said he was getting his seized coils heated. And Ghustle was going to try the same because the PB blaster just wasn't cutting it.

Place the wrench in place and use a mallet to progressively hammer the lock ring loose.

Using a torch or a basic lighter?

I dunno. He said he took it to a shop and told them to "gently" heat them up. I'm supposing they'll use an acetylene torch or similar. Just make sure if you heat them to not do it too much. If your coilovers are made of aluminum, there's a potential for the heat to make them warp extremely easily.

Then maybe get a friend to help you. Place two wrenches and one of you can pull and the other can push. Yank it a couple times.

Since I have no choice and have basically skinned my hands trying to break those perches, I'll give this a try tomorrow..

Yeah, I hit it about 40 times before realizing that wouldn't work.. Will try again tomorrow before torching it..

I tried hitting the mallet against the tool. I'm going to try against a giant flat head first. If that doesn't work.. I'll be back here.. I'm not looking forward to torching my coilovers just yet tbh..

Torching is the only way to get it off, though.

Please, don't use acetylene That's WAY too hot. Just use a hand held propane.

If he heated a compressed gas with a torch, destroying the coilover might be the least of his worries.

Boom no good.
Boom bad.
Stay away from boom.
