Coil/ECU problem
Coil/ECU problem
Im currently getting no signal to cylinder two coilpack. There is voltage and ground supplied fine to the coil, but the signal that tells the coil to fire is not getting to the coil. Ive checked for continuity and it is good all the way from the ECU connector to the coil, so im guessing that means the ECU is not sending a signal to the coil. Does this mean the ECU is toast?

The coil trigger is most likely operated by a transistor.
Look for 6 of the same transistor and check those for proper readings.
Also note that the injectors may also have 6 transistors, so try to trace the leads on the PCB if you can.
I don't know what the ECU looks like on the inside, but most of the components on it are probably replaceable.
Figure out exactly what is blown, and do a google search on the component (it should have numbers on it).
You can also try eBay, but they have been known to carry "fake" transistors lol
nothing on the board is replaceable without soldering and somehow I cant find where the transistors are. There are really only a few places they could be but I cant trace any of the wires back to the right pin, so Im probably just going to get a new one. Unfortunately
See if you can borrow a known working ECU before you drop the ball and buy a new one. Good luck
well, im not going to get a NEW one, Ill get a used one and deal with it from there. Its gonna be a bit since I have to work it all out with TS, I dont want my $400 ECU with special tune to just hit the garbage. I was thinking about taking the ECU to an electronic parts specialist and seeing what they say. Just have to figure out what kind of "specialist" would know how to deal with it
