Isn't the rim 8" wide? That's more like 245-40-18

Yes 225/50/18 will fit the Maxima.

I have 03 Maxima with 18" Altima SE-R rim with the stock 225/45/18 tires. They are around a 1/2" smaller than the OEM Maxima 17" rim with 225/50/17. I am getting ready to replace the 225/45/18 tires with 225/50/18 to get give me a little more sidewall height. 45 series low profile tire looks dumb on a Maxima that is not lowered due the HUGE factory front fender wheel gap. I had it lowered and it looked great but the wife though it rode to rough and it's her daily driver so I had to resort back to OEM springs.

sorry to ask a question ????? 24540 18 ? Because I have 225/40 18 but theirs hardly any tires so they told me I can get 24540 so is that a big difference with the thickness of the tire/comfort ride

245/40-18 is probably the best A33 tire out there, given then wheel has a decent offset and it's at least 8" wide.

Since I posted this in the other active tire size thread, I'll spam it here also.
