What i did to the maxima today

Drove my maxima to work today and decided to start on it finally. I bought it beat up then had someone back into me and was just waiting for some warmer weather to start on it. Had to go get my 240sx tagged today but i'm HOPING to have it completed by friday..

Ordered a new hood, both fenders, and bumper cover
removed the original hood, fenders, bumper cover, and headlights
removed all window trim, door panels, and handles
started on pulling and fixing dents, just a small one there on the right quarter
started sanding when i got sick of pulling dents

I will be painting pretty much the entire car besides the decklid and side skirts which are in pretty good shape.

It's going to be tough for me to part with after i spend all the time fixing it and having all new paint but I'm going to sell it quick so i can pick up an identical 03 TE BUT with a 6MT later on this month at auction.

Well here's the pics, i figured some of you guys would like this. I will post a few more pictures later on in the week.

Before, on the right

Well i didn't get as much time to work on it today as i was hoping to but I started filling dents, i'll prob post some pictures on here later, keeps me motivated.

Not sure what happened to the car but i'm guessing it went through a fence. Needs both fenders, both headlights, front and rear cover, and lots of TLC on the sides and quarters. Put a windshield in it and fixed the right mirror when i got it so i could drive it. The quarter was pretty smashed but it pulled out easy so i'm hoping it turns out alright.

It's an 03, 95k miles, autotragic, black on black, meridian package, titanium package, engine hasn't burn't a drop of oil after 4k miles and it runs great. Unlike my last VQ35. Perfect car except for the auto. I really hate to sell it but i NEED the 6MT! haha

Anyone wants theirs painted I'll do it. just bring it on down! They're fairly easy to disassemble for paint.

Just finished painting the fenders, bumper cover, and hood. Well the hood is just edged actually.

Now since i've already painted these I'm going to be pist if i don't get the 6 speed because if i was going to keep this one i wanted to do a black pearl like the new challenger or something similar. If anyone has any black variances let me know of them! I want to do the next one with a slight pearl or Maybe a metallic.

Why not just sand down and repaint the whole thing? Looks like you got 75% already done. Aren't you afraid of the new paint not matching up?

More pics from today. Got the hood painted and got a lot of the car blocked and sanded. still going to TRY to get it sprayed tomorrow so it'll be ready on saturday. I rushed a few spots and need to go back and fix them, go figure. Luckily i've found some string to put under the back glass modling so now i don't have to cut it out.

VQ- I will be painting pretty much the whole car. Only thing i'm not painting is the decklid, sideskirts, and door handles, why not? because i'm crunched for time and getting burnt out already! And they'll polish. OH and also because it will be for sale soon. The auction for the 6MT got bumped up to a week from today.

For the record, Nissan Super Black really is SUPER Black. A lot of other blacks i mix up have a bit of yellow, white, blue, and/or green in them. Nissan's has only 3 grams of a really dark blue to 100 grams of deep black and that's it. Using Sherwin Williams Ultra7000 base

Makes it cheap and super easy to mix up when i need more. Perfect!

AAAnd since i don't want to get back to work yet. Here's some pics of the 6MT i'm HOPEFULLY picking up next week.
Thought it looked like a good car and then when i saw the shifter i just about shat myself. A fixable 6 speed with the options i want doesn't come up very often.

Won't let me update my first post again so here's an update.

Update 5-7 Around 5:00
Finished preping, masked, sealed and painted today and will hopefully get it put back together tomorrow morning for the drive to KC around noon. I'm fairly happy with it. missed a couple little dents but other than that i think it turned out good. Especially for as fast as i got it done.

PICS

masked

sealed

based and cleared

Thanks guys, It was a lot of work but it should look good when i finish putting it together tomorrow morning. Got a lot of it put together tonight, just got home actually. The quarter was what i was most worried about but that ended up turning out pretty damn good. Here's a pic of what the quarter looked like when i bought it.

Just have to find the time to wetsand and polish it now.. . ugh...

ok that one sucked. here's a better one.

Not detailed or polished yet and just parked it from driving 3 hours back, even drove through a little rain too. Gotta love how a brand new paint job beads up water.
