Anyone ever "black out" the chrome window accents?

Someone on here suggested using this stuff:

http://www.amazon.com/BLACK-OUT-TAPE...3099642&sr=8-1

I'd love to see pics of anyone that's blacked them out.

I think I've seen threads in these forums, with pictures, a while back showing what you're looking for.

Yessir look at my pics, they aren't the best but you get the idea. This stuff surprisingly works pretty well. Its basically really strong electrical tape. I put it on about 2 months ago and it looks good as new. Just take your time and trim everything nice and straight. I personally recommend it.

Did mine also, very time consuming and takes some patience. But when its all done and you step back and look at it, it's worth the time and effort.

I used that blackout tape on my 4th gen. It didn't last too long before it started peeling, etc. It could have been my application, however I wouldn't use it again. I ended up ripping out the trim and replacing it with SE trim, but that obviously isn't an option for 5th genners.

I also tried painting my 4th gen trim - what a disaster there. After a few months, it chipped and looked absolutely terrible.

Thanks everyone, some great pics and nice looking cars out there with this done.

My next question, how do you think it would look on a stock (besides 35% tints) sterling mist maxima SE? Stock wheels, stock ride height, etc.

I'm sure it would look good. its just a real subtle change, nothing like new rims or suspension. I have done it myself except i just used electrical tape, it looks exactly like the blackout tape and its only 75 cents a roll. surprisingly its held up through 2 blizzards we had here and still looks new

On a sterling mist I think it might be ok still... I definitely would not do it to my sheer silver. If I had a black one though, then I would probably do it myself. It's matter of taste.

I remember when just about everybody on the .org started blacking them out. It looked good on some cars, but not so good on others.

It all depends on how it flows with the other mods/accents on the car. I chose to leave mine chrome. It accents the wheels and the chrome door handles on my car and doesnt stand out against my body color like it would on another.

Now when I had my beige 4th gen, I blacked them out in a heart beat.
