You do have insurance don't you?

It is usually the other party's fault when they hit you from behind.
File the claim and their insurance will pay to fix your car.

only reason you asking is because I think you think of scamming them to try to get something?

hmm-m-m try to go to one of them expensive bodyshops. From my experience, when you get rear-ended, your bumper cover is the least expensive item that may be damaged. There're bunch of fasteners, also bumper shocks that need to be replaced....boom there's a bodykit in it for ya!

Oh yeah mods

also make sure you call the main person handling your case and explain to them pain and suffering IE: missed time at work, hassle of getting the work done, your car has now been hit which lessens the value, possible stiff back for 3 days. They will overnight you a check for $500 to cover that. Don't just think all that is a scam, it's not, it is a pain in the *** getting hit. Don't second guess me on this one at least give it a try, it can't hurt. Have fun modding your car.

Or he could have set a high deductible and is trying to determine whether or not its worth reporting it to the insurance company. I would do the same thing...I set a $1K deductible on my insurance and would cover any damage less expensive out of pocket and leave it off my insurance record. Keeps your insurance lower in the long term.
