questions about my new 6spd max

i got an 02 max se w/125k and few questions

1. it seems to not really grind but click into every gear when shifting and is worst going into third gear

2. my rpms for some reason are very hesitant. when ever i punch it and or down shift the rpms jump around for a second then are steady??

3. also the car doesnt seem as fast as it should be. i changed the plugs to NGK iridioums and an oil change, have a catback, and intake,. wut other major maintence is required or very beneficial maintence

4. also the memory seats for some reason dont work. if i hit the set button both 1 and 2 light up but when i hit either or nothing happens

5. i also got a cel for an 02 sensor heater ckst?? i was wondering my friend has an 95 max, if i can just take his 02 sensor or switch the connectors on em

any help would be great thanks alot in advance

Welcome to maxima life :P

That's normal for the trans. Once warm, with good fluid, you can get that to go away by about 75%, but never entirely.

As for your hesitation/performance problem.. I have been racking my brain about it for a while. My car sometimes goes great, sometimes it has to think about it for a while. I really hate it, but there are no real indicators of what the problem actually is. This was happening before I got P1448 and P0455 evap system codes, and still exists sometimes with the codes present too.

I also changed my plugs like you did, with no difference.

As for the other questions, I am not sure.. I haven't even tried the memory on my seats actually, I am the only driver.

for the memory seats, make sure the seat belt is off and hand brake is on, then go ahead press and hold set button until the light is solid and then press 1 or 2 to memorize that position. then move the seat away from that setting and press the programed number to see if it moves. remember Hand brake ON, Seat belt OFF.

It clicks when it shifts on mine and my friend's Altima SE-R, seems like all these trannys are alike.

do you know what gear oil is in the transmission?

If you dont know, drain it and refill with either redline MT-90 or amsoil GL-4 transaxle oil (http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/mtg.aspx). You should see an improvement in the shifting. Also, look into ES shifter bushings.

You can order amsoil products through talkinghorse or HTPerformance on here.

edit - looks like HTPerformance is banned, so PM talkinghorse.

There is a short shifter adapter for our cars but the name of the product keeps changing. There was the Watkins, then it has changed names a few times. There is also a different setup by Ralco.

BTY the memory seats in the 6spd don't work quite the same was as the auto. In an auto, the seat will automatically bask up farthest away from the steering wheel when you turn off the ignition. Then it will go to your memory position with the key turned on. But that feature is disabled on the 6mt.

Also make sure the button on the dashboard for the memory function is enabled. You can disable it if you don't use the function so maybe the previous owners kept it turned off to save the seat motors.

hold the button until the light goes off...the instructions are also in your owners manual

Well, nothing is supposed to happen when you press set and a number. After setting you have to move the seat manually then press one or two. then the seat will move
