2003 GLE price Opinions sought

I've been looking at a 2003 GLE at a dealership that has 63K miles. Was one owner car and has clean carfax. Dealer won't go lower than 11,400 plus 300 documentation fee. Does this sound reasonable for this low mileage? Nada price at that mileage (plus extra for sunroof option) is 11,800.

I know I'd have to get a leakdown test by an independent garage to be sure there is no oil burning problem.

Thanks.

I'm in the Boston area. I might find an under 10k car, but probably would be an 80k miles plus car. One owner clean carfax cars are hard to find.

Search for I35s. Rich(er) people have garages LOL, and drive them like babies so even at 100k+ they're in really good shape, plus they're dirt cheap (more like 5k).

any way you splice and dice is 11.8 k is high. maybe not too many exist in the boston area and you may have to step into pa or ny to find the gem you seek for the right price...
if you havnt allready....look at the "found a 5.5 majestic blue 5.5 gen" thread at the top right now for hope. op got a deal for 7k, but at 8800 a great deal still.
and far as mileage is concerned, do your dd on the motors health, even with 85k as long as the basics check out hope on it if the rest fits the criteria (trim and price)

You know, that's pretty good advice.

And the I35 continued on into 2004, even after the Maxima went 6th gen.

$30,800, eh? I wonder how much mine was new. It has every option including the Nav I never use and AT.

BTW, I got my about 1.5 or 2 years ago for 12.5k with 36k. So youre doubling the mileage (almost) for only $800 less.

around 11k is what kbb says its worth. Thats awesome miles. If you know that youre only going to find cars with 80k plus in that area, then it may well be worth it. But if youre not going to mod it, then leave it there

OP, that sure looks like a better deal.

Weird seeing a beige steering wheel. Then again, it's strange seeing only 2 pedals.

Rhyno2, you got a good deal. Trouble is 2 years later most cars would have another 20k miles on it.

I understand you guys love your 5.5 gen and all but these things are approaching 8yrs old.. I think its and insult to charge over 10k for one of these cars even if its in perfect condition imho..

The main issue is that the cars have high resale value and used car prices have gone up because of supply and demand. Unfortunately I think of 6th generation as a stretched altima and hate the styling, not to mention I'm 6'4" and find the altima seat as having less room then the maxima.

I'd like to know where to find a clean I35 for 5K with 80,000 miles on it. I'd sell mine up here for 8K and go buy one and put 2K in the bank after the tax hit.

I only paid $5500 Cdn for my 2002 SE 6MT (in March '10)

My car had 90k mi at the time.

Only thing needed for safety was a ball joint, and arguably rear brakes, which I replaced anyways because I'm **** with cars.

the dealer is asking way too much for it
my brother bought a dealer maintained 03 SE Titanium Edition with 80K on the clock for 6K....and this was a 1.5 years ago....

No one in their right minds should ask 11.5K for a seven year old car, period.

Denny,

I agree that the price is high, but nada book at that specific mileage with sunroof is 11,800. And they want 11,400 plus 300 documentation fee = 11,700. Used car prices have gone up because supply is down and no one is trading in their car because of the economy. I would not want to get a car at 80k miles if I could help it because that is high too.

If you do a cars.com search in the boston area you get 80k miles 2003 cars having average asking prices around 10k. Maybe in your area of the country cars are cheap. Here they are not. The car I was looking at was a one owner car with a clean carfax and no issues that I could tell. Most cars do not have clean carfaxes and typically have an accident or two and may have more than one owner. There is not exactly a large supply of 03 cars on the market to begin with.

OP, I live in Plymouth, MA and I just bought a 2002 (Majestic Blue might I add) GLE w/sunroof and everything for 5,700.
Granted it had 100K miles, but for 5 grand less than what your dealer is asking it was a good deal.

I would definitely keep looking, you can find cars in great shape, just keep checking. 6k was my budget but you can find something around 80k miles for less than 8k if you keep looking.

Regardless of the miles this is too much. I thought I paid too much at 7000 out the door for fully loaded 6Speed (nav, hlsd, black leather interior) with 110k miles.

Are you nuts that price is ridiculous. My car was 7k for a fully loaded (minus HLSD) 2002 se 6mt 90k miles 1 owner clean carfax. My girlfriends rsx type s was 8500 with 71,000 mi. We bought the max in Oct and the rsx in Feb and I'm from the Boston area. I only paid those prices because they had replaced a few parts already on both cars.

My biggest regret so far has been the rust on the underside of the maxima. If your going to pay top dollar for a MA car, which is insane, make sure they put it on a lift for you to look at. I get annoyed every time I go under the max to work on it. The rsx was from Virgina so there's 0 rust on it.
