I was thinking to connect directly: The throttle body to MAF and the filter to the MAF. would this be good? Bad?

Would it be bad for me to place the Filter directly on the MAF?

I dont see whats so hard to understand. He's asking if it's okay to get rid of the midpipe/resonator and run just TB>MAF>Filter. Like so...

v.s. TB>resonator>MAF>filter like this...

(taken from sparks03max's thread)

And yes it's ok.

Which one of your dynos show this intake setup Nmex? I wanna see the difference in power delivery versus having a midpipe there.

The 5.5 gen doesn't have any vacuum lines, just 1 PCV line. I left mine open to air with a small filter on the VC, but I don't like that idea anymore and have since reconnected my PCV line so it doesn't idle lean.

For the 00-01 5th gens, if i'm not mistaken, you can leave the vacum line from the 00VI (2 if you have butterflies in the lower) open. But dont take my word for it. I know for a fact that when you do the 00VI swap into 4th gens, you can very well leave these open to air. I havent tried it myself on my 5th gen but I dont see why it wont work.

AHh on the dyno, that was my latest and most recent dyno which it actually did give a non linear/smooth power delivery. I hope to counter taht with the Helmholtz back in there and also the JWT velocity stack whenever I get off my lazy gluteous to dyno again.

CAI<SRI<TB/MAF/FILTER

I ditched my intake tube yesterday and ran it as said and got the best results so far... the intake tube IMO or a "CAI" would only be more potent if it had a heat blocking plate behind the filter to prevent the hot engine air from recirculating back through the intake.

Leave your PCV hose connected. To get rid of that dip, put in your stock Helmholtz.

The unit that you have apparently isn't the correct one for your year if it was, it would have a hole for it.

^True^

In this case though, you can simply place the sensor behind the filter/in front of the MAF if you have a MAF adapter. Just squish the wires between the MAF and MAF adapter. The wire is ok between there.

Damn dude, do we have to agree on everything?

That's what I have always done with my 4th gen. Just don't let the IAT get dislodged and dangle in the engine bay, for some screwed up reason, it will then have horrific throttle lag.

I guess when two people actually have plentiful hands on experience in a certain subject they end up with common results. In other words, we dont just talk out our asses.
