shaved my emblems and relocated my keyhole

i got rid of the emblem indent, that drove me crazy. at first i was just going to shave the keyhole, but i figured moving it to the license pocket would be more interesting.

the way nissan should have done it.

You relocated your keyhole... that is amazing.

With all that creativity, I'm surprised you didn't put your license plate on a spring-loaded frame, and hide the keyhole behind the plate.

That's... That's beautiful! How long did it take, all told? What'd you use to bore and seal the holes?

Wow. Good job! I'll have to do this if I ever get around to repainting my car. I just debadged the other stuff, but left the burger cuz of the holes... I like the work!

people use the trunk keyhole
i painted mine black to match my car...never even used it

the emblem fill-in looks good...though I think it looks naked without anything...a smaller flush emblem looks good, IMO

That looks awesome. MUCH more clean and flowing than messing it up with lettering and an unbalanced keyhole. Good work, Details like this kick ***.

I've debadged but I haven't done the keyhole delete yet. Rochester did a mock up for me and I think its much better...I'll add it too the list when I do a repaint !

10 hrs working time including painting it. 3 weekends in total. i cut and welded the metal and filled the trunk indent with 3m automix rigid plastic repair.

i thought about doing that but didnt want to overcomplicate it. i wanted the burger gone. i figured if i had to repaint the trunk might as well get rid of the keyhole. but i cut it out so i could see if it could be relocated. it was actually really easy to relocate. figured out where i wanted it, drilled out the hole, centered the lock indent, welded in place and finished off the license pocket.

i wanted a stock look to it. the keyhole being there makes it look stock without badges. this is my daily so i dont want too much attention drawn to it. plus the two weeks i didnt have the keyhole was anoying. my crappy current alarm doesnt have a trunk popper. although i'll have one with my new alarm, the hour it took me to relocate it was worth it.

I remember having a car when I was a kid where the gas cap was behind the rear license plate. Anyway, when I suggested the spring-loaded plate frame and the hide-away trunk lock, I should have reinforced how impressive a job you did.

It looks fantastic.

Looks good. I never did understand why we buy a car and don't get paid to advertise for the manufacturer. They put emblems all over the car, is that for me, because I already know what car I have. They do it to advertise. They pay ad companies to advertise, why not us.

i hate the emblem (especially on the 02-03)...to big and sticks out too far

i removed mine but didnt want to fill in the holes...so i used an emblem from a 95 pathfinder...smaller and flush

So the NISSAN emblem from a 1995 Pathfinder is flush and easily replaces the trunk emblem on the 5th gen Maxima without modification? Is that right? This is the first I've heard of it, but you would think a detailed kind of mod like that would be more commonplace. Hmm.

How do you get the trunk emblem off anyway?

Damn. I really want to see a close-up photo of that, Sooner.

one of your bumper clips in not in the passenger side, if you open the trunk take off the plastic and remove/ pull back the carpet you will be able to pop in back in place. I would do this so you dont rub the paint off the rear of your trunk lid.

I was looking at my trunk burger this morning, getting fresh in my head what this emblem looks like. The top is tapered thin, like I thought, and the lower half protrudes quite a bit... all in an effort to make it 90 degree perpendicular to level, or flush to a straight-on perspective.

So if you put this 95 Pathfinder emblem on in its place, wouldn't it be angled downward? This seems awkward, just thinking about it. I sure would like to see a close-up photo on how this looks.
