Recently my 00 max has been acting funny. Ive been getting bad gas mileage around 250miles to a tank. Also my car will randomly shut off. As of last night I found something that might be a clue. Once I let off the gas my RPMS dropped to about 800 then bounced to about 1300 and continued to do so until I pressed the gas again. And as for the car shutting off, it only does it when it is in park, reverse, or neutral?

Any ideas?

its a brand new maf, and i mean BRAND FREAKING NEW. ive maybe put 1k on that maf

 

Silly question but anyway: did you replace the MAF due to those problems or some of them appeared after the replacement?

 

It shut off on me once before I got the new maf. Shortly after my maf went out so I had to replace it. That's why I'm ruling out the maf.
