Problems removing TB

Hey guys,

I have a new TB to replace my current one to see if it helps resolve my idle problem. I have NWP spacers and used RTV Black during the install. Unfortunately this has made removal of TB a pain. I have all the bolts removed and I can't get the TB or TB spacer free from the IM. I've tried tapping it gently with a hammer, tried pulling on it, etc. It just won't come off. Anyone have suggestions of what else I can try?

you arent supposed to use RTV black between the TB and the "elbow"...just the lower and upper collectors

only thing i can think is to smack it some more and wiggle

That's funny because step 30 clearly states...

30) Apply RTV on both sides of the TB spacer.

Best thing to do is wiggle it, also try twisting the tb to break the seal. Once the sealant starts to tear it will pop right off.

Well, I guess I'll keep at it. Think I need to go get me a rubber mallet. I'm way too paranoid with a regular hammer. Thanks guys!

If you don't have a rubber mallet, use a block of wood. It will not transfer the metal to metal blow of the hammer.

Today I got around at trying again. Annoyingly it popped off immediately.

However the good news is my idle issue is fixed with the new TB. The idle went down a good 300-350 rpm. I haven't been able to reproduce the safe-mode like issue with the transmission either (but I'm not 100% convinced I'm out of the woods with that yet...but it's promising). However I did discover that there is a vacuum leak between the upper and lower IM. So I will redo that.
