It had more to do with wanting to actually understand what you were saying. I understand its best to take short cuts while on a cellphone, but when you want to have a debate or intelligent discussion its best to try to complete your thoughts more.

Also you seem to be under the impression that I said "do the 04+ 6spd swap instead of the VQ35 swap." I never said that. I simply said I cannot do a VQ35 swap in CA, and that if my 5spd was fubar I would probably replace it with an 04+ unit. Would I throw out a perfectly good 5spd for a 6spd unit? Hell no, that's just stupid. Though i'm sure someone would pay good money for my VLSD unit.

My point all along has been that an 04+ 6spd is a nice match for for the DE-K. I understand that you are saying there isn't a whole lot of data saying that the 04+ unit is better, but if you put the 04+ unit into a car already trapping between 87mph and 94mph then you wont see any gain. However in normal every day driving the driver of the car with the 04+ unit will feel that the car is peppier and responds faster. The physics and the math agree with me.
o.m.g......why is there always one person who wants to be the grammer police in every thread

wtf was the point in this, I'm glad you can understand his half thought out posts. but when having an actual discussion and debate understanding what the person you are talking to is thinking is important.

Also how is it my fault its off topic when you consider that the OP just asked for info on how to do a 5spd-6spd swap Grand Hustle responds with

obviously you can 2. You just want to act like Mr.Perfect and try to point out the smallest mistakes he's making because your wrong and he is right

but back on topic.......i would rather spend my money elsewhere. All a 6spd swap would do is give you bragging rights. You would be better off slapping a turbo kit on your de-k rather than worrying about a 6spd swap

I apologize if i was coming off as trying to be 'Mr Perfect.' My spelling is less than perfect, i even use Firefox to help with the spelling. I was simply trying to state that its difficult to have an intelligent debate when one person's sentences are half completed and contain incomplete thoughts.

Like I've said all along. I agree. Better to spend money on other things that provide far greater returns. I was simply stating that there are in fact benefits to a 04+ 6spd swap but they are rather minor for the cost incurred.

People really need to read the technical parts of my posts and stop focusing on the request for paragraphs.

Or to the OP what about doing a full 3.5 and 6spd swap?.. that would be a first, now you have the "show and go" lls... little over spent but hey if you want a 6spd that bad... or you can do like datdude said, boost it...

A full 3.5 swap is pointless as well...just boost the d@minute thing

I agree, I'm thinking of trying FI myself, not on the 5.5 of coarse, but i'd love to own another DE-K 5spd and boost it... problem is, I don't wanna spend the 3K for the DE-K... sad!... and I am looking into a winter beater... (won't be driving the max in the winter from here on out)... how much did aaron setup eventually run him, I'm sure 3K covers the charge

Car-parts.com or rebuild, if labor is free then just rebuild the trans... lemme ask you this question, what was the specific reason you wanted a 6spd for?? Other than because the current trans is wrecked..

HAVE YOU LOOKED INTO CHANGING GEARSETS FOR A BETTER FD OR AT LEAST A LESS AGRESSIVE 5TH GEAR? CHECK THE FI FORUM FOR MORE INFO.

IF LABOR IS FREE, THEN I'D SAY GO WITH A 6MT IF YOU FIND LOCATING A SUITABLE GEARSET FOR THE 5MT A HASSLE.

when I say labor is free I meant I would be removing and installing the tranny myself,as for the actual rebuild I have to get someone to do it. but yes i might look at changing the 5th gear for a more highway friendly gear

do a 6spd swap if you really want to, its pretty easy and all you have to change is the timing ring to match up with the 3.0 i just finished my 6spd swap. it wasnt easy getting it in with the limited space and how much bigger the tranny is but wasnt hard to swap everything over. check out my thread and you can shoot me a pm if you have any questions

I might be shooting you a pm soon, the 5spd speed on my 01 20th is bad, And if I could swap in a 6spd for the same amount of money I might do.

Any others do the swap ?

6spd swap is not that hard, if you can drop a transmission and work a sawzall and drill, you can swap a 6mt.
