and this is goodbye

second maxima in less than a year is totaled
i have the worst luck ever. at about 8.45pm we got t-boned by x5 on cicero and lawrence in Chicago, ****er ran a red light and hit us going at least 45. maxima got tossed to the side 30+ feet and spun 180 degrees.
all 4 of us were taken by the ambulances.
none of us have any broken bones just few bruises. my dad probably has a concussion, and staying in the hospital for observation for next 24 hours just like my mom. my neck hurts and is stiff like hell, my sister has few bruises, dad was at the wheel, and if it wasnt for side airbag this would have been much worse.
the ****er somehow managed to dissapear before the cops showed up, but i saw his face just before i was going to beat the **** out of him but people showed up and my dad was trapped in the car.

it seems like the world does not want me to have a 5.5 gen, sux to see a 44K 6-speed go to the graveyard.
No more maxima for me. thank you to this site for all the help, keep on rocking.

Wow. That's a doozy.

Glad you all lived to tell about it -- be thankful, not mad.
The cops will get that guy - and he'll get his.
Worry abt your family.

I have to say - the max did pretty well in that nasty crash, and it looks a DAM site better than the X5 that did the damage!!

Good kharma, man.

MAN!!! that sucks!! i'm sorry you were in that accident, but glad to hear you and your family are ok. i say i wish someone would total my max for me, but seeing this makes me think twice about that wish. i'm glad you're ok...and just scratch it off and go on to the next one.

PS i hate people who cause accidents who try to flee the scene/not claim what they did, pisses me off even worse!

Sorry to hear about your accident and glad to hear everyone is relatively ok.

I have to agree that the X5 looks like it got the worst of it. The more pictures I see of maxima's in accidents, the safer I feel driving them. They seem to hold up very well.

I hope everyone recovers very quickly and good luck with whatever car you go with next.

If he left the car that it was either stolen or his is a idiot of epic proportions. Glad to hear you are all safe and no serious injuries.

Damn, dude.. Nice job escaping that!
I am really saddened by the pics.. The car I wanted more than anything was a white 5.5 SE/TE. That car is like my Eleanor... Poor Max

Wow, I'm so sorry to see this. At least your and your family are alright though. Hopefully the $hithead in that X5 will get what's coming to him.

That bastard destroyed a MOST RARE pearl white TE 6MT. RIP to that beautiful car. It took me almost two years to find my 02 SE 6MT.

Such a shame to see something like this but GOOD LORD, your car held up remarkably well for such a violent impact. Definitely have to agree with everyone else here, it looks like the X5 took the worst of that. Good to hear that it was only minor injuries and that the ****head behind the wheel of the BMW didn't kill anybody. It absolutely blows my mind and makes me angry that there's people on the road so stupid as to do things like this that put the lives of others in danger. Best of luck with a speedy recovery and for swift and hard justice to the scumbag who did this and then left the scene like a coward.

this ******* on the right was the one driving the X5. i've talked to my insurance and they said that car was reported stolen, after the fact.
if this guy doesn't confess i'm going to make sure he loses his job and works in in Mc-D for the rest of his life

I'm really sorry to hear about the crash and the injuries, but the most important thing is that you are ok.

Good luck with whatever car you chose to get next

He mentioned he saw his face in the original post. A good guess would be that they looked for the insurance card inside the car. Another guess would be through the cops, or insurance company. Now days tyou can pretty much google anyone and find a pic.

Either way, I hope he gets what's coming to him, but I have a feeling that bastard will only get a slap on the wrist. Only logical reason to flee like that is if he was under the influence of something. DUI laws are more strict now.

This is where those side airbags really pay off. Had it not been for those, your Dad would most likely have had way more than just a concussion. I'm glad to hear you guys are alright. Only 44k miles....

As for the Dumb^$@$ who ran from the scene of the accident...then reported the X5 stolen? Let's just say he'll get more than a slap on the wrist for that.

at the scene cops ran the plates and filled in owner information, i saw the guy right after the accident as i was yelling at him so i knew he was indian or something like that, about 5'8" and buff, because he was in shorts and sleeveless t-shirt.
so today i googled the name of the owner to see if it was actually someone else driving, and got his picture.
also there were witnesses that that saw his face too and talked with him.

Wow, hope you and your family get better quick. Sucks to see this accident AND ******** not owning up to their doings. Sad to see a mint 5.5 TE 6MT with low mileage go. On a side note, looking at the picture these cars are pretty damn safe.

Holy ****...so he had the nerve to get in the accident, run away, THEN report his car stolen and think he can just get away with it? He's goin down... what a dumbass.

if there were no witnesses, then he might have been able to get away with it. but with witnesses all around, this just went from bad to ugly.
making a fraudulent insurance claim is a serious offense. not to mention a hit and run, and filing a false police report. wow.
good thing this guy has money. he's gonna need a top notch lawyer to keep him outta jail.

There's a really good chance he has a seatbelt bruise/burn and airbag burns. Plus from what I understand when you have an airbag go off in your face you smell like the propellant for about a week.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. As someone who also recently totaled his maxima, I feel for you. You had your family in the car. I was alone, and the situation wasn't nearly as bad. Glad to hear everyone was able to walk away alive.

The front airbags are not going to go off on a side impact. You can see the curtain bag went off like it was suppose to however.
