Weird rear brake issue... Help!
Well my 5.5 has been making some very weird issues in regards to the rear brakes the last week or so but got very bad last night. When driving in reverse the rear brakes make a LOUD screeching noise when im not touching the brakes (goes away when i touch the brakes). Then when i drive forward you can hear the pads rubbing on the disc (but no screeching or anything). When the wheel is off the brakes spin freely once i compress the piston in on the caliper. However as soon as i hit the brakes it drags the pads.
I went ahead and did a full brake job on it, pads, rotors and even went so far as to replace the calipers with rebuilt ones as the old ones did not want to compress very easily anymore. While doing this I bled the rear brakes and even disconnected the parking brake entirely from the rear calipers (i was thinking this was the problem possibly).
Even after doing all of this... the problem STILL arrises. Nothing has changed after 300 dollars in new brake parts
HELP!!!!!

How are you "compressing the piston in on the caliper"? You do know that you can't just push it in to retract it, don't you? You have to turn it clockwise while pressing. The cube tool they sell at parts stores is worth 10 times the asking price for doing this.
Did you clean and lubricate all the moving parts, retainer bolt sliders, pad sliders, stainless steel clips, etc? If any of them are gummed up, then it will tend to hang up/stick.
Good, not cheap, pads are a must. I like ceramics for DD/street use.
Outside possibility is a sticking master cylinder.
My 2K used to groan horribly in the back brakes while backing up, but never while going forward. I never really got it solved before selling the car.

All parts are adiquately lubricated with new sliders.
Pads are ceramics
Im starting to think it is either a colapsing brake line or the master cylinder. Im probably just going to order both.
As I mentioned previously, the e-brake cable is completely disconnected from the rear calipers at this time.... doing so yielded no change in the issue. However I left it disconnected.
I was sure hoping it was the e-brake cable tho.

After popping 2 excederins, I googled and noticed that deteriorated brake lines can cause the same issue. I would order them first since they are cheaper. And flush the fluid.
Yeah i think thats the plan, rock auto has them for 9 bucks each... so im just gonna replace both rear lines and do a full bleed with new fluid and hope it works.
It should be drivable. It's not like the pads are clamping down hard. Just don't drive cross country like that.
