5th Gen Max -- 245/40/18's or 245/45/18's???
I picked up some 18" infiniti wheels and am having a tough time deciding which tire to wrap them in. I want a smooth, comfortable ride and I'm only using H&R springs in the front (rubbing won't be a factor). Tirerack says that I should go with a 245/45/18 so that my speedo is correct.
Long story short, I ordered Bridgestone 245/45/18's and they look HUGE in diameter compaired to my OEM 225/50/17's. Is anyone using 45 profile tires on 18" wheels and liking the setup or should I send them back and go with 245/40/18" tires? Thank guys!!! |

To answer your question, there are alot of people that run 245/45 tires on many different oem wheels from maxima, 350z, infiniti etc... With the mild drop that the H&R springs provide, a 45 sidewall with look perfect (IMO). Although this is coming from a person who prefers a beefy looking tire, so take that as you may.... If you already ordered them, then I think the decision has been made, and one way or another you will come to love them. Goodluck and post some pics up when you get them installed. ;) |
i have 18in 350z rims on my max and im have run both sizes and i like the 245/45/18 better the 245/40/18 look to small IMO, stick with the 245/45/18

I'm running 245/45/18's and rub on hard bumps and when I have rear seat passengers. I just had new stiffer rear struts installed and they only helped a little bit.

I'd say 245/40/18's:D

245/40/18 is closer to the original 225/50/17 diameter....if you could find some nice 17x8 or 17x 8.5 lightweight racing rims the perfect step up would be 245/40/17 and your speedometer would be perfect as OEM...with 245/40/18 your speedometer is running lower than you're actually traveling....245/45/18 rub and really throw your speedo off.....

245/40/18...
