Ok so I finally got around to installing the grounding kit I purchased. After the install the car has been acting funny. Half the time I am accelerating the car feels like it doesn't want to accelerate and it climbs rpms so slow and sometimes won't pass 4000 rpms. Also if I floor it it seems to stay in 1st gear and won't switch into 2nd and sometimes won't even go over 2000 or 3000 rpms. When doing spirited driving it accelerates slowly sometimes but it shifts just fine even though it feels like it doesn't want to accelerate. I never had this problem before but during the grounding kit install I had to remove the airbox and had to disconnect the plug going into the maf sensor I don't know if that makes a difference but maybe unplugging it helped it go out on me. Input please guys it sounds like maf to me but it only happened after I installed the grounding kit can it be just a coincidence or what?
I am really doubting the grounding kit could have done this anyone else have an idea and btw no CEL.
Check the maf harness. I had this ↓ happen to me on my cam sensor once when I plugged it in.

I checked the wiring once I'll check it again and get back to you guys. I logically don't see how the grounding kit could have done this that's why I have a feeling its the maf. There's no CEL so I doubt its any other sensor. Anyone have any other input?Originally Posted by Reizy

Like I said guys no CEL and after today I'm ruling out MAF and grounding kit for the reason that this problem is not continuous. This afternoon on my way to school it only did it a couple times when I first drove it but after getting on the highway everything was good until it got stuck a couple times at around 4000 and 5000 rpms it would just stop climbing rpms and it seemed harder to get up to 100 mph, it was easy to get to 80 but from there it climbed to 100 really slowly I remember it being easier to get up to that speed before. Later that evening between classes I took it for another test drive and it was fine also when I came home later at night it was fine. I'm thinking its my tranny maybe the grounding kit revealed the problem since one of its effects is making the tranny shift sharper. What you guys think let me know?
Reset it for what? I followed the the install I had the battery out throughout the install and then let it idle for 5 mins isnt that all i need to do.
Took off grounding kit today, still have same problem also found that as soon as i start car if i pull off and try to speed up the car stutters at 2k rpms for a couple secs until it passes it then its good after it warms up. So I'm ruling out grounding kit for obvious reasons and I'm thinking its tranny. I notice it won't shift gears if i floor it at WOT and just stays at 4k rpms and doesn't do ****. I was able to stay in first gear at 4k rpm for about 10 secs and it wouldn't shift until I let go the gas and then accelerated.
Disconnect your MAF turn on your car and see if it still does the same!! If it does then is your MAF. Thats what I do if you suspect a sensor, disconnect it. If it acts the same is the sensor. As long you placed those grounds all on metal and no sensors touching it you should be fine. After you diagnose the MAF then disconnect your TPS. See if it acts the same way. Accelerate it, if it acts the same then it might be your TPS. Check one at a time. Dont worry about the CELs because they will pop up when you start disconnecting stuff

SO you are saying if the car acts the same with the MAF disconnected then its the MAF?Originally Posted by JAY25

So I did a drain/fill the other day and WOW what a difference. The car shifts much better and the slip is gone. I ended up having to refill 6qts as I had drove the car all day before I drained it and the fluid was so hot it flowed right out. I'm hoping to run it for another 1000 miles then switch to Amsoil synthetic, what you guys think?
