Replaced ECU and Motor Mount Blew Out
I have an 03 Max SE AT.
Had a Check Engine light so took it to dealership, they said they cannot read any codes so I should have the ECU replaced. So I buy one from the Junkyard for $200 from an 03 AT Max SE.
Today I dropped off the car and the ECU at dealer and I was gonna pay about $100 of labour to have it installed and programmed. Later, I get a call from them saying that when he started the car after replacing the ECU the motor mount smoked and blew out. (I dont really know what the electric motor mount does)![got me](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/ne_nau.gif)
Now hes saying the motor mount doesnt really do anything (its electric) and that I dont need to have it replaced or worry about it since some cars dont even have motor mounts. (I dont know if this is true?)
Question: Do i need to replace the motor mount? Is it safe to drive without it and what other problems should i expect after replacing ECU?
I searched already and I could not find anything helpful

I think all the electric motor mount does is absorb more vibration than a regular rubber mount would. It's safe to drive with the electric portion of the mount disconnected. I think some 5th gen (2000-2001) owners used to preemptively disconnect them to make sure the mount wouldn't fry the ECU if it blew.

fyi... the electronic motor mounts are across the 5th and 5.5 gens. not only for the 5th gen.
And yes, you can drive around with the mount disconnected. My concern would be what happened when it smoked, if there was damage to the rubber of the mount, I'd check it out and replace with a set from eBay.

Ok so the new ECU is now in the car but still code is not readable. Service Engine light is still on and I have tried the reset ECU procedure.
Dealership wants to order another ECU through Nissan this time but they want $1000 for it! This is BS, what can I do to make the Service Engine Light go off???

Look up the ecu relearn procedure. Its like key on 2 seconds off 10 seconds on 2 off 10 gass pedal 7 times somethig like that its also called "pedal dance" cel will blink a bunch then go out count blinks and so on
