Engine REVs up when Clutch Pressed in

I've noticed that everytime i press the clutch to shift. Like, when i'm coming to a stop with the clutch and brake pressed in the engine rev's up to about 1500rpm then drops to regular idle speed. It's becoming very annoying.
Any suggestions?

Not to be an ***... but why don't you hit the clutch a bit sooner? Anything below 1500 isn't giving you much engine brake, if any at all...
