Trimbrite tape as shown in the Nissanclub guide. I just blacked out my car using that this weekend and it came out great. Just take your time and be steady with the razor blade when trimming it and it will come out looking ten times better than with the chrome trim.

Electrical tape won't last, but the Trimbrite stuff is great.

Jeff, it matches your theme. Silver and black trim. Do it.

Last year, I did the same thing with electrical tape, just to see if I liked the look or not. Zero must have missed that part of your post... of course you're not going to actually use electrical tape for a final effort. (Silly Zero.)

IMO, this is a good mod for black, but not for silver. Chrome accents silver very nicely. (Except for the door handles, but that's a factor of the handle design, and not the color.)

Ultimately, it's your choice. Your car. But since you're asking for opinions: then no, not on a silver car.

now you got me thinking. i know in black like Z's car it would look sweet, but im not sure on mine. the blackedout HL i was on the fence with and now i love them. the blacked out chrome looking at it now seems to give it a "dirty" look and not the good one. but it is a dirty car right now (havent washed in a week or 2) and its cloudy and gray out so that may be factoring in to my thought.

Damn you Rochester why cant you just be like everyone else and say its awesome , do it hahaha

Also what do you think then of blacking out the burger on the grill?

Doh, fair enough. I was quick to jump the gun since I had a friend who used some electrical tape to fill in the gap after he ran out of Trimbrite. Failed to look good.

If you want to see it on a sheer silver, look up pbn85s car. I think it would look even more noticeable on your car with the blacked out sidemarkers and headlights.

It's just one lonely opinion, nestled in the woods of Upstate New York. Don't put too much stock in what I say. However, opinions carry more weight if you can explain or defend them. To that end, this mod creates the perception of an enlarged window area which is disproportionate to the design of the car.

For example, take note of how the new Chevy Volt uses large black trim to enlarge the narrow look of the high beltline. Another example, look at the same visual trick on the rear window of the Volkswagon CC.

Now, on our cars, you can pull it off if the car is dark, or more specifically... black, with dark tint. Like Zero's car. While I don't personally care for the (dated) murdered look, I can still appreciate the design theme.

My tint is far from dark.
35% all around, no privacy here. Sigh.

And I HATE the murdered look.

im gonna see how hard it is to take off the moldings and maybe ill do the front grill as well .

i like opinions. dont want a car that everyone thinks is nasty looking. but i did see pnb85s car and i gotta say i like

Well, "dark" compared to my virgin windows.

As to privacy... stop picking your nose on the highway. Gross.

Error 404: Dark not found.

And I really have no comeback for the nose picking. It's my party and I'll pick my nose if I want to.

Aw, you already know.

Based on what you did here, that would look better if you somehow deleted the burger... which takes some refab skills.

But seriously, whatever makes you happy, man.

And Wow!, that was some crazy fast re-post trying to mask your tags!

Jeff, you can simply take a razor blade and scrape off the paint over the chrome burger to bring it back to life. I painted my burger to see if I liked it....didn't. Just scraped the paint off, now all around it (part facing OUT away from the car) but the letters is chrome again.

Thanks Rochester.

Jeff, I think it looks good, but I would've kept the burger chrome for the contrast.

yea im on the fence too. it looks like it just smacks you in the face. im gonna do the lower frills tomorrow so it will be more than just the grill black. make it look like its not alone.
Z i agree i think the burger being black is the culprit. i scuffed it up to paint it so even if i take the black off it will not be the shiny chrome. ill think of something to make this right

What measurement was the tape? 1/4" or 1/8"?
