Changing the color of your interior

Hi all, I have a Superblack SE with frost\gray cloth interior. I really want to change the interior to a darker color. I know you can get all the interior panel pieces from places like www.oem-car-parts.com. Anyone else done this or considering doing it?

I would like to do this, but figured it would be cost prohibitive so I decided to live with the frost, but I do hate it!

At the risk of asking a potentially flaming question....

why didn't you just buy something else originally?

Is this an 'over time' thing that you just grew to hate it?

Are you looking to stay cloth or go to leather?

Well, it was an impatient thing. The max I wanted (black on black) would not be available for 6 weeks, but they had a frost interior one on the lot. I didn't think that was too big of a deal because the main thing I loved about the car was the power, handling, features - not necessarily the interior color. I was wrong and now I wish I had waited for what I wanted instead of 'settling'.

I never really thought about the interior color when I bought my Maxima in July 1999. It was pretty early in the life of the 5th gen Maxima, so the selection was pretty scarce. The only Superblack Maxima with auto and the C&C package was the one with the frost cloth interior. I also didn't want leather because it gets too hot here in Texas.
Since then I've seen pictures of Black on black Maximas and they look much cooler. Also, I have black rubber scuff marks on every piece of interior trim paneling in the car.
Also, I plan on getting aftermarket leather seats in black, so I want the rest of the interior to be black also.

I have frost leather inside as well on Satin Blue. Thought about changing interior to black. Is the process difficult?

Not difficult, just expensive. You'd have to replace the carpet, all the panels and pillar covers, the middle console, the dash, the floor mats, the seats, and maybe the roof lining. All in all, maybe $2000. Most of it is do-it-yourself, except for the seat covers, which would require professional installation.

Oh yeah, forgot about the door panels. You'd have to replace those as well. Pretty expensive, but might be worth looking into. You could get 5 pieces of the trim every month, and it would take you maybe a year to finish swapping out all the pieces. Most of it is snap-in, so it's easy to switch.

hmm..that's alot of $$$$. I'll wait for the 2004 maxima. i guess the frost leather isn't that bad, but it gets dirty very easily.
