Another ebay supercharger thread

I know im going to get flamed but w/e. Ok so i was bored on ebay and i was looking around to see if anyone was selling a stillen super charger for my 01. when i came acorss this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissa...Q5fAccessories

I always see these and i thought to myself wait why is this one expensive? i clicked on it looked at it... i thought it was garbage till i saw the video.. If you look the video the fan thingy seems to be going sick fast and its metal not plastic.... im guessing if it sounded like that itll pass atmospheric pressure and indeed push much more air into the engine. Hmmm 20-35hp actually seems feasible with this but i wanted to ask you guys what you think... Either way im probably not going to buy because im broke but this had me thinking.

20,000 RPM? Turbochargers can spool up to well over 150,000 RPM if I'm not mistaken.

I don't see something that small moving 5PSI of air... I'd be more worried about the potential of it disintegrating and getting sucked into my intake.

Why don't they have videos of a before and after dyno if they're so sure it works?

I lol'd myself:

This device is not designed to be on for more than 30 seconds at a time. It needs about 5-10 seconds after every 30 seconds for cool down. Don't let that bother you, keep in mind most vehicles will go 120+ MPH in 30 seconds.

What is the difference of this charger and those cheaper products on ebay?

Keep in mind some sellers on eBay are selling boat blowers as electric superchargers. This product was specifically designed for this application. Many eBay sellers sell inferior kits put together in their basement and call it an electric supercharger. For this reason we are the only seller that includes a serial code on the box, ensuring it’s authentic.
I was sold when they said there was a security code on the box.

A better question: If they're so sure it works, how come real race cars aren't using this newfound technological breakthrough? You could get all the benefits of a supercharger without all the extra work.

What if I wanted to put this on a track car where I have to accelerate and brake continually? Do I switch it on every time I go WOT on a straight, and then turn it back off when I have to corner?

The power gains will vary depending on engine size and current modifications. Most cars will expect anywhere from 10-20% power gains including extra torque.
So if I put this on a 400HP N/A car, I can expect a 40-60 horsepower gain?

Well, I'll say two things having wasted those precious minutes of my life watched that video. First, he refers to the relay as an "amplifier." Yeah, I'm convinced already. Second, although those blades spin really fast, if you consider the amount of air being sucked in solely by a normally aspirated engine, I fail to believe that thing spins fast enough to not only keep up with the air demands of the engine, but then to produce any measurable boost. Additionally, let's say this device does produce .5-1.0 pounds of boost, the information clearly states you must let the fan rest for up to 10 seconds after every 30 seconds of boost. Oh, and nice for them to let us know our cars will likely acheive over 120mph in 30 seconds of acceleration.

Well, maybe all I've said is 3-4 things, but still.......geeeesh. Duck say: Crap, crap crap.

Exactly why you feel the "boost" when you drive the car. With the switch off, the fan won't spin, and thus chokes the car of the air it needs to run properly. Then, when you switch it on and the fan actually allows the car to breathe, it feels like you've got this huge, JDM-tyte power increase.

Great gimmick, huh?

I noticed that. I can't tell if it was inside the intake, or if something got blown out of the airbox in front of the camera.

Also, I was wondering why they'd hook it up to a Jeep. You'd think if they wanted that to sell, they'd take a video bolting it up to a Porsche or something...

Shrapnel flew at the camera I can't stop laughing. And yea that's the most expensive car they own that jeep is not even a new model it has to be a 95 because I think that was the last year to have the in line 6. Cmon really they didn't even try to hook it up to some kind of sports car, they should have hooked it up to a honda VTTTEEEEECCCCCCCCC!!!!

IS that 2 dyno graphs on the box? They don't even make sense the power bands are completely different like they are from different cars.

Whats even funnier is they turned it on with the car off OMG if it actually worked like a real supercharger the engine wouldn't handle that psi like that while not running it would cause some internal damage from pressure coming in. That thing is just a little fan that does nothing but obstruct your intake I doubt you can even run the car with it installed, it would definitely run like ****.

Either way, it's still **** getting sucked into the intake that shouldn't be. Packing dust or metal, it can all do damage.

Test it out on Big Black.

I'm sure it'll help get that VQ35 running in no time at all.

At this hour, I'm going to assume you are being sarcastic.

Haters?....ugh, yeah, because it just HAS to be peronal doesn't it. Couldn't be because the thing is actually garbage? Like saying I disagree with the president, but that makes me prejudice?

If you really want to try this thing out, go to your local hobby shop and piece one together. I'm sure you could find a 20,000 RPM electric motor and a model airplane propeller you could fit into some tubing. Same concept, right? And I bet it wouldn't cost over $70 to experiment.

NOPE. This is SOOOOOO affordable, you can buy one for each cylinder. Modify your intake to attach one to each inlet, then add 5 more MAFs to meter all the air being blasted in by each "supercharger." Huh, you could call it a "6-Pack!"
