4th gen tranny in a 5th gen?
im parting out a 4th gen maxima (95) and my girlfriend's 2000 SE 20th anniversary max needs a tranny. can i swap my 95 transmission into her 5th gen? (they're both automatic)

My car has the RE4F04B, but from Transgo's info, that year had both(depending on production date). I'd reccommend looking at her underhood plate to see which she has.
She may already have the RE4F04A, if she has the "B" version, My guess is it would work since that year had both rolling off the production line, may need to switch PCM/TCM if it was different though?

thanks guys. also, anyone know why the car would jerk to the side when it hits 3rd gear? (occasionally happens in 2nd and 4th if your driving hard)
from what i can tell from thread searches it could be a number of sensors (crankshaft position sensor, throttle cable position sensor) or a torque converter? any other suggestions?

I wouldn't do it....
Just had a 96 tranny installed on my 2000. I was told they had to use all sensors and the valve body from the 00 tranny. I still have 2nd-3rd gear slip, I have thumping like the car is misfiring and now my car is slow and all downshift points change. car will not downsift to 2nd while i am going 60mph. If anyone has a 00 tranny forsale let me know. I am in Columbia, SC
