Turbo Lag??
Turbo Lag??
What are some of the ways to reduce turbo lag off the line(Size T3/T4)??
Dont know much about Nitrous but I understand that it would be pretty bad if I used a nitrous shot straight off the line
...and even worse if i used it in combination with a turbo???
Is this something single turbos just have to deal with or what??
After hearing about turbo'd cars losing solely because of turbo lag...taking that route doesn't look as great anymore

example...i read somewhere on this board about a max keeping up with a modified turbo eclipse because of turbo lag? and those things are suppose to run 12's-13's modified?
100 shot of NOS is looking better good to me day by day

I couldn't even imagine where'd you stuff it without it hitting something!Turbo lag is evil.
If you go turbo, you'll hate lag. Imagine this:
Cruising at 3000rpms... someone wants to race you and floors it, he will gain a car length no matter what car it is before you even begin to accelerate. You'll step on the gas... a second or two later, turbo spools, and then you'll be cruising, but you have to play catch-up.
That's the only problems with turbos. You're constantly playing catch-up off the line or right when you get on the throttle.
Ways to reduce turbo lag:
- increase exhaust flow is the easily and best way.
- increase incoming air flow.
- use ball bearing turbos.
- keep oil fresh and new (duh).
- run a BOV and vent it back into the intake.
- run smaller turbos.
If you follow all of the above guidelines, you will see a decrease in lag. Some will argue the Bov point, but, for a street car, if you vent to the atmosphere, you will see more lag than if you returned it to the intake. Granted, this will hurt DRAG RACING performance, but, for all other applications (getting off the throttle quickly, then immediately getting back on), it will help out much more.
In drag racing applications, you tend not to care if you vent it to the atmosphere or back into the intake, as you don't get off the throttle and get back on it (well, you shouldn't, in ideal conditions).
hope that helps
whoa thanks alot
i just read about something called the E-Turbo....looks promising
i believe what hes going to do is...remove everything to the right of the engine and stuff the battery in the trunk for space...rewire some parts of the bay
