My tires decision .....some will be jealous

Hey Guys,

I wanted to let you know (and possibly rub it in a little) that I've made my decision regarding replacing the Potenzas now that I'm at 37,000 miles. With a little help from my brother, who works for a dealership that owns Mr. Tire, I will be putting the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires on my car tomorrow. He got them for me at wholesale(even though I still think the price is pretty steep for tires) and we'll do the mounting and balancing at his dealership for free.

Drumroll...........all four tires mounted and balanced for $750.00.

Thanks to those of you who posted to my previous inquiries about which tires to use. After reviewing the specs and reading the raving reviews of the Michelins, I chose them even though I could have probably gotten a different tire for somewhat less. I figured what the F*** since I was getting them at wholesale. The retail value of these tires mounted/balanced "out the door" from Mr. Tire was $261.00/ea. Unbelievable ...I never thought tires for a car could run $1000.

Thanks Again

I like the Michelin Pilot myself. But I suppose you can like the Pole Position too. I think I would just slide down roads in Seattle with those...I hope it doesn't rain where you are. They're like slicks.

I am not referring to the Pilot Sport A/S that this thread was referring to

See the two pictures...take 'em to the track (first picture is Pilot, second is S03).

Rock on. I love 'em myself. I paid a bit more than you, but I don't anybody is paying retail for these. You sound like you've got the best deal out there on the Sport A/S...that's about $190/tire. You can order them online for that price, but installed and balanced for that price is great! Congrats.

For comparison

This is the Pilot Sport A/S. You'll notice the same tread pattern as the Maximum Performance Pilot Sport, but with thicker tread and more grooves.

Not bad

You can also get them from Tirerack.com for $852 shipped. Plus 7.50 per tire mounted and balanced at Sam's club down the street. But a grand is a good deal too.

I'm not really into modding my cars ....

since I trade them in every two years. My preference for modding would be to buy an old GTO and go to town with it. Hopefully, I be buying a house with a garage soon......
