new ksports!

Just got a new set of ksports today, thought I'd show them off and see if anyone has any tips/advice before I install them. Will be installing them tomorrow sometime, then having a full alignment done on Monday.

TIP....Install them not on your vehicle but mine first. Let me test if they're safe or not and if they will last.

I wouldn't want you to get hurt because of faulty parts.

Thanks for all the comments guys... I finally got the ksports adjusted to the proper height and got my wheel alignment. I must say, you definitely learn interesting things about your car when you are setting ride height and stiffness on a trial and error basis. I don't think I'll ever buy regular struts and springs ever again, the flexibility of coilovers is very nice.

As for ride stiffness, I tried the factory recommended defaults and while it was ok I didn't like how bouncy the ride was. I ended up going 9 clockwise from factory recommended and so far the car handles much better. Another hting I noticed after switching to coilovers is that my torque steer is nearly gone. I can still feel the car want to pull to it's favorite side but it is very subtle now.

Also, just want to add that the ksports do not make any funky clunking or popping noises. I read in other reviews/comments that people were getting weird noises with their ksports. I have not experienced any of this. Here are some pics of the car with the ksports.... this was about as low as I could go without rubbing while turning.

I'm not sure how to go lower in the front without rubbing... the rear I had no problem at all. I was about half an inch lower but if I hit a bump while taking a turn or if I turned too fast it would rub. A friend of mine told me wheel spacers would fix that, soo once I get those on I will see if I can go lower.

My rims are 17x7 offset 42

I'm fine either way, all I want is to be able to take turns fast without having to worry about something breaking

I got them for 850 shipped from a local place in Arizona.

I was thinking about going stiffer simply because the stiffness feels better than bounciness. 17x7 seems to run just fine, isn't that what factory wheels are as well?

I don't see how you could rub at all with nearly stock sized and offset rims. You did cut off the bumper tabs inside of the rear part of the rear fender right??

nice work going the extra mile with c/os. glad it worked out.

side question - dont these coilovers have the least longevity of all the c/os offered for our gen?

I don't think I was rubbing in the rear of the car, but could you post a picture just for reference?

I'm not sure on that, I've heard some people having bad struts out of the box but all of mine seem to be working good. There is also a 2 year warranty or something of the sort so I'm not terribly worried. They were cheap enough that I can buy another set if I need to send these off to get repaired.

225/50/17, I figured since the rims were the same as OEM that'd work out just fine.

Hey MEE too!!

OP, how would you describe the ride so far since you set it up? Jarring? Bouncy? Thinking of going with these also but in the future

On the factory recommended setting they are a little bit bouncy, but if you go 9 clicks clockwise from there I think it is a perfect mix for daily driving. I have yet to try them on the firmest setting, though I am very impressed with the handling. My car no longer loses traction when taking tight turns which is something I was very happy about.

Did you preload the spring & ride at foctory setting? if you preload coilovers then adjust the damper the ride will be 10x better & you can ride lower...from past expierence it's night and day difference when coils are preloaded, anyway congrats & goodluck with them.

I did very little preload, just enough to make sure it was barely tightened but had even measurements all around. What happens if I add more preload? Doesn't that prevent the amount of weight it can absorb on a bump?

Nah bro it helps it's basically the spring bracing itself prior to impact, the damper controls the absorbtion of the bumps & the spring controls the oscillation of the car while the damper works to absorb the bump...I usually put 5-8mm of preload depending on the app.
