New Spoiler Help

Hey, I ordered a new spoiler (hasn't arrived yet) but I was wondering how do I turn off the rear brake light? Because the new spoiler has a brake light built into the spoiler. The spoiler is a replica oem for a 2000 maxima.

Take the fuse out or take the bulb out.

Okay, but don't I have to connect the wire that leads to that brake light to the spoiler brake light? Or does it connect to another wire or something?

I assume you mean the center brake light in the rear window...the corner brake lights still have to function so pulling the fuse isn't such a great idea.

If you got a complete spoiler kit like dealers used it should have a blank so you can take the center light completely out and cover the hole. Most dealers didn't do it...mine didn't either.

It sound's like your kit doesn't have one though. Find the wire to the center light under the package shelf, splice into it for the spoiler. Use a meter to tell which is which (hot or ground) so you hook you spoiler up right. Clip the end going to the center light if you don't want it lighting and tape off the cut ends.

my 02 didn't have a spoiler on it so I ebay'd one. It came with the third brake light already wired and the paint was a perfect match. It was such a perfect fit that when I drilled the trunk it bolted up right where the factory one bolts on(maybe I got lucky?) Anyway, when you pull the trim down from the trunk it should have a set of wires already there for wiring the light up. Nissan sells a cover kit for removing the light from your package tray also. Costs about $25 or so I think.
