Interior Clips... where to get them? (Clock)

I have a pretty annoying rattle coming from the clock on my 02 Max.... seems it is missing the two metal clips on either side and only the built in front clip is holding the clock and its finishing piece to the dash.

I called the nissan dealer here and town looking for the metal clips, unfortunately they couldnt provide them and told me the only way to get them is to buy the entire clock new from them at $120. Kind of rediculous for two 20 cent clips.

So, does anyone know of a good source for these clips... or even better does anyone have some laying around they want to sell to me for a profit (Mods: if this is unacceptable in this post... I apologize in advance).

Thanks in advance guys!

Have you tried calling around to a junkyard/used parts store or searching online auctions? Sounds like the perfect thing to try and find used, as all you need are the clips... Good Luck.

Try the small misc. area at the local auto stores. They typically have a decent selection of those type of parts.

Pretty much any upholstery shop or car audio shop should have some spares.

When I ran a car audio company, I bought the metal dash clips and plastic door panel clips by the box at wholesale auto parts suppliers for the install bay.

It seems like at least a couple of each would either break or disappear at least once per week.

What you REALLY need is foam strip tape, baby. That stuff is a cure-all for squeaks and rattles. <3 j00, closed-cell foam tape.

I hear ya on that one! That stuff rocks!

I'll probably shove some in there just to be safe as well. I hate rattles like hell!

If either of you two are still subscribed to this thread... answer me this, please: is the clip in this Courtesy Parts link a match for the missing metal clips in the clock assembly?

I took my clock apart this weekend, and one of these clips is now deep in the dashboard somewhere.

its the same clip thats used in the clock and plastic panels the V shaped ones. i had ordered 2 of each from this diagram http://www.courtesyparts.com/maxima-...2092_2096.html and the only difference i can tell is the length.

Good deal. Thanks, cjandura. It seems to be the same little clip used in the upper half of the steering column cover.

[edit] Aw, crap. I'm not paying $11.00 shipping for a $1 part. That's nuts. Maybe I should hit up one of the local stereo shops now.

Here's the full Nissan part # to the clip cjandura referenced: 01554-00181. Hit up your local dealer. Save your gas money from driving to who knows how many shops.

Excellent. They're only $1.08/each from my dealer. So I ordered 4 of them for the next time I screw up some interior panel job.

Well done, sir.

In case someone is using this thread for reference, take note: these are not the right clips. They're close, but don't really fit right. Too big.

Back to the drawing board.
