I swapped out my old radio for a pioneer and now my cruise control doesn't work anymore. I was wondering how can i make it work again whether I have to do it with relays or anything like that.. Please help!

Do you have steering wheel controls for your old radio? I.E. volume control, etc?

Could we get some more details than "I messed with it"? Just wondering if you had a connector in the dash loose or you had to short some wires or what

Cruise control on my car has not worked in a few years. Have no idea what the problem is. It powers on (the light comes on) but no one is home.

Download the manual from the link in my sig. There's a section that deals specifically with cruise control.

The FSM is a big help, but really the cruise is a pretty easy system and there's only a few parts to figure out. Maybe this will help you diagnose your problem.

1. Cruise control computer - In the dash behind/under the radio. If you did any radio work, maybe a connector was knocked loose?

2. Switches on wheel - Either they work or they don't... again maybe jiggling connectors like the OP did?

3. Pump - The cruise works on vacuum. There's a small pump that's bolted to the driver's side wheel wheel under the hood. Check the connectors... the FSM also shows what pins on the pump you'd need to run power to so you can check if they pump is working.

4. Actuator - Attached to the firewall is a part that is connected to the vacuum pump that has a cable to the throttle. This is what keeps the pressure on the throttle to run the cruise.

I had cruise problems and ended up replacing the vacuum hose from the pump to the actuator which helped a bit. When I first replaced the hose, I didn't have it tight enough and the cruise would come on, then when I set the speed it would only hold for about 5 seconds before the light went off (there's two lights, one for on "cruise" (I think) and then another for "set" showing the speed. When I had the hose leak "cruise" was always lit, but the "set" light is what turned off within 5 secs. Once I fixed the vacuum leak, both lights stayed on.

For my particular cruise issue, I had the the throttle and cruise to throttle cables adjusted and I fixed most of my cruise problem (not really keeping a set speed without having the throttle making nearly constant adjustments). For my particular problem there's TSB which states replacing the cruise control computer with an updated model is the fix... it's a $300 part. My car has 227k miles, so I doubt that Nissan is going to honor the TSB, so I haven't even messed with it. Though my issue is somewhat annoying, it's not $300 annoying yet.

BTW - Most of the parts can be purchased pretty cheaply from everyone's favorite auction site. Seen all the parts above for a 5th Gen for a total of about $100 online except for the updated computer I need... but I keep looking), if you catch right auction.

Hope this helps!

the wires in the connector might be lose just trouble shoot by what you did and just move differant parts of the harness connectors to see if the problem occurs again.
