Installed Iconic Rear spoiler(pics)

This is the back windshield spoiler.

Got a friend to paint it at his body shop- color match is perfect.

I really like the look, ads a little "brutality" to the Max by breaking up the too clean roof to back windshield transition. It turned out to be a nice visual upgrade for cheap.

Sorry for the crappy quality- old iphone camera.

It must be the Grey Lustre, the matching paint and the tinted windows... but god help me, that looks pretty good in these photos.

Not a big fan of the rear window spoiler, but yours blends in nicely. Good job on the paint match as far as I can tell from the pics.

Im not much for the roof spoilers but how OP has it color matched it looks pretty good. What also helps in my eyes is the trunk spoiler. Lines look good back there. Both spoilers match well together.

I really like this idea. How should I go about doing this? Spraycan? Any pro tips on removing the trim?

I was just thinking... in addition to the Grey Lustre, window tint, and the matched paint, what contributes to this actually working (when roof spoilers usually look stupid), is that the OP has no wind deflector in front of his sunroof.

Exactly my approach- if I had the moonroof deflector I would have never done the spoiler.

I am usually against mods of this nature but it does really work well(probably more so for the darker colored Maxes). It ads some visual length to the roof line which tricks the eyes into thinking the roof sits lower(esp. in the C pillar section), which in turn gives a little sportier feel. The more I look at it- the more I like it. And for 40 bucks, it was well worth it. (I'll take a full car pic later if I can)

Now I am debating getting 5-8mm spacers installed to keep carrying the visual weight to the pavement. Then after the weather gets warmer its on to the exhaust!

If I were you I'd find a way to remove and spray or mask off and spray the trim. For me I use the trimbrite black out vinyl sorta tape, its been holding up pretty well and I like it. However, I think paint would be better.

The reason IMO that it looks good is because its color matched so it doesn't look out of place and he has no sunroof deflector so its not too much, Good Job OP!

i did this on my 2000 before it got totaled a couple of the pieces of the trim snap off and can be painted ... i used 2 or 3 coats of primer on the trim then black spray paint ... heres some pics ...
