Pretty sure my car is totaled

Damn drunk ran up over a curb to run a red light and hit my car. Lucky I got stopped enough he hit the front fender instead of the passenger door where my son was sitting.

The drunk

His truck

Yeah, that is a total. Wow, you were very lucky to get hit by an F250 4x4 that sits that high and not get nailed inside. Glad you and your son were OK.

Just replacing the airbags and related modules is about $2200 in parts alone, and one Xenon headlight is what, about $1000?

Wow sorry to hear that about the car, glad he got caught I have no remorse for drunken idiots who decide to drive, my buddy got killed in front of me by a guy who ran a light, and we were both just leaving work. I have never done it before and when he died in my arms and had to tell his parents I swore I would never do it at all. Glad to hear you and your little guy are okay

Damn.

Glad you two are alright. Things could've been a lot worse...especially with a big truck like that.

Sorry to hear about the car, too. I can tell by the things you posted around the forum that you took good care of her.

In hindsight, though, at least it's the car and not you and your son. How many times have you seen drunk drivers take out a car full of people, and walk away without a scratch on themselves?

How are you, yourself, feeling? Did y'all make a trip to the ER just incase?

On the positive side, your passenger's side front wheel might be Hellaflush approved now.

Someone had to say it.

Oh yeah, the airbags stink when they go off, nasty burnt odor. But...at least they want off and kept both of us from possibly face planting on the dash. Seatbelts locked up tight too.

Driving is one of the most risky things we do as human beings.

Even if you, yourself are a good, responsible driver, it doesn't stop other people from being total morons.

If I could go out on a limb, I'd dare to say that about 60% of the U.S. population probably isn't fit to operate a motor vehicle.

Glad to hear you and your son are ok. Your car looked so nice too. If you need to detail a Max while you're waiting to replace that one, mine is a short drive south. Too soon?

Oh man, sorry to hear about your accident. You really put a lot of work into your Max too. Glad to hear you and your son are ok though. Have you started talking to your insurance company yet?

Lost my Max today too, but for a different reason.

The charges that set off the airbags are basically shotgun shells.
That smell is the same smell you get at a shooting range.

The seatbelt tensioners also need to be replaced after the airbags deploy, I think they are only good for one use.

Roof didn't buckled and neither did the A pillar (subject to closer inspection when it is morning), passenger front door is a bit wavey though.

I'm so sorry to see that happen to your car. You should enjoy every cent of that drunk's money when you buy a new car. And it is awesome no body got hurt, but you should claim a few neck injuries because we all know money cures everything.

I am surprised at resilient our Maxima's are, when I saw that truck and how damaged it was and how your fenders are; it makes me feel that much safer to drive my Maxima too.

If there is one thing that everyone on here overlooks about our cars and totally takes for granted, it's how damn safe they are.

Your car got hit by and F-250 and from the looks of it, took the impact like a champ. It's definitely totaled but with the way it held up, hell, I'm willing to bet it still runs and idles just fine.

The fact that you walked away from an accident like this is really incredible. Like someone else said, it almost always seems like the scenario is that the drunk driver walks away unscathed while two or three people die in the car they hit.

Glad to hear you're OK and to hell with the drunk. Go after him for the money you deserve for all this crap you have to go through. Don't be afraid to make a trip to the doctor, a lot of times you don't feel the worst of the aftermath of the impact until a few days later. Best of luck with getting everything sorted out.

Glad you and junior are ok, very sorry about your car. Might be worth a visit to the doc to get checked out, or treat yourself to a couple of good massages. I was on adrenaline after my accident in September, as you likely were after this one, and thought I was ok aside from a stiff neck. I ended up having some very painful back issues crop up a month later. Things get out of whack when you take a good hit.

i'm glad neither you or your son were seriously injured....am pretty sure about the car being totalled also...get your son checked out just to be on the safe side

i was in a similar situation last year when a drunk driver came flying outta nowhere at a traffic light...fortunately the traffic light pole took most of the impact from the hit and i was able to drive away with only a broken headlight+cracked bumper....smh, people are so reckless nowadays it's just crazy

I went out to remove the rest of the stuff in the car (passenger door won't close completely but alarm still works) and when I looked up under the back of the hood, I could see the FSTB was bent upwards several inches. Strut tower on the passenger side definitely not where it used to be.

Damn dude. I know how it feels. Glad you're alright though. The car does look totaled for sure. My adjuster said it would cost at least 3500 just to replace the airbags alone, never mind the body work.
