Door open light on, interior lights and keyless not working.

My 03 has about 150000 miles on it now. Was driving the other day and my door ajar light came on. I checked all doors and trunk and all were closed. Light stayed on. Keyless entry works when the ignition is on accessory or on, but not off. None of the interior lights work. My headlights when on auto will not stay on for the few seconds after cutting the car off. I've checked fuses under the steering wheel, and checked the fusible links under the hood but didn't see any problems. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Check your door switches. Sounds to me like one may have gone bad.

I checked them and none of them are stuck. I've been searching but can't find more info on this. Can I pull these out and ohm them?

there are 3 fuses that feed the "Smart Entrance Control Unit", fuses 1, 10 and 13. All are 10 amp fuses. The door switches can be checked with an ohmeter, they are either closed (0 ohms) or open (infinity). In operation with the door closed, the switch is open. When the door is opened, the switch closes and grounds out a pin on the smart entrance control unit. Different doors, different pins.

When you say that the keyless entry works when the key is on ACC, are you referring to the keychain remote? If so (and if I remember correctly), this is completely backwards of normal. The keyfob remote should NOT work when the key is in the ignition switch in any position.

It almost sounds like the car is confused and doing things backwards. Why don't you try disconnecting the battery for a half hour to reset all the control modules. When you disconnect the battery, remember that the radio will loose all the station presets.

I agree with you that the door switches seem suspect, but my key fob works whether the key is in the ignition or not. It does, however, respond to the doors being open by not working so that's what I would check, for sure.

Was cleaning my car today and found the problem. The lamp fuse in the distribution block under the dash was blown. Replaced the 10a fuse and everything works great. Can't believe it's been a year without keyless. My interior lights, keyless, key in ignition chime, remote window down, and door ajar light on dash were all fixed with this one fuse. Figured I'd update in case anyone else runs into this.

Fix

Your car's fuse box iditfier may not have the lamp fuse showing tht it even needs one like mine....it's number 2 right under room lamp....stick a 10a fuse in and your chime with interior lights and keyless entry should work like a charm.
