Tax return, getting headers

I am going to put most of my tax return towards bills but I have enough left over for some Cattman headers & y-pipe. My pre-cats are looking worn (noticed this when I pulled the engine to replace my timing chains) so I want to upgrade to headers. My question is will I see an increase in power with just headers and no other breathing mods? I will probably get a fastcat and 3" exhaust sometime later on but for now just headers and MAYBE a custom SRI

Yes, you definitely will.

When I had my setup (headers/testpipe/2.5" exhaust), even when I put my stock catback back on, I still felt noticeable gains over my friend's stock Maxima.

You'll see good low-end gains with a stock catback and headers.

FTR, headers were my first BO, and yes, you will feel it. I never did dyno w/o headers, but on an internet dyno (DJ), I dyno'd 233 in my auto w/ a JWT POP charger + Headers.

Just put in my order to Brian Catts for the headers/y-pipe. He says he needs 1-3 more orders before he can start production (meaning he still has to check back with earlier orders to see if they are still good so he might need up to 3 more orders) So if you are thinking about getting Cattman headers now is the best time because you won't have to wait very long being the last few orders.

why did you changed the timing chains? they usually last the life of the motor. enjoy the headers, you will notice a big difference..

Well I had "the rattle" at startup which got louder over time and I didn't like it. I have a friend/roommate that used to be e a diesel mechanic but services assembly line equipment now. He only works 3-4 days a week so he wanted something to do on his days off so I asked if he wanted to pull my engine (we have a big shop out back). He pulled the engine, pulled the timing cover, we looked everything over and found I had a bad tensioner. I didn't NEED to change the chains but it's not that big of cost considering I already had the engine pulled. I replaced the tensioners, guides, chains & water pump, along with the o-rings & seals. It hasn't rattled since and that was back in October

OP, you're a wise man. Headers are the best first mod you could do.
