This happend a few days ago, but I saw this smuck fly up on me in what looked just like my car. He got past me and I saw it was a 2k2 so I wanted to see if he could beat me. For those that don't know I'm s/c'ed. So I get up with him and I can see he's shifting and he see's me eyeballin him and takes off, so with him I take off and begin to go right by him. So I get up to about 100 and start to slow down. Now I can see him a ways back in my mirror coming up and I hit this light. He pulls up beside me with this bewildered look on his face and rolls down his window and say's wtf is dun to that...I said nothing and left him I just thought it was funny and thought I'd pass this along it also brings hope to those with autos and those that want 2k2 its not the final answer , also proves the auto will work.

What size pulley you have and what PSI is your car running at?
What other cars have you gone up against and how were the outcomes?

BTW, do you have the Stillen supercharger? I am hoping that Nismo brings a Nissan factory warranted supercharger to America next fall. If not, I may have to get the Stillen and scrap my warranty.

 

i am not calling your story BS Jason.. but.. if you are on stock boost.. with all that stereo stuff in our car.. that one is hard to belive.. i walked a 2k2 6spd.. and i don't see a 2k SC Max on stock boost keeping up with me.. i don't see a 2k 5spd SC Max on stock boost keeping up with me ither.. and most 2k Auto SC Max run mid to high 14's.. so i would chalk it up to driver error if anything.. or a 2k2 auto owner manually shifting away..

This got alot of replies quiker than I thought it would.

let me respond to some of these:
PHatguy: I'm not a big fan of street racing so I don't go up against many cars. But the ones ive played with ive beaten up on.

jkratzer: Yes it's the stillen kit, there is no other kit available yet. Nissan will never bring a factory s/ced max over. Screw the warrenty if you wait till the car has to many miles on it to warrenty it becomes a bad situation to put a blower on it.

SprintMax: I knew somone would question it but it's not b.s at all. The stereo stuff in my car does not weigh much. We guesstimate maybe 50lbs was gained all together equipment and racks inall. The big rack does not weigh what you would think it's really pretty light. Big extreams where taken to keep it all light. The 2k2 has 255 at the crank a 2k auto s/ced has about 250 at the wheels, so you gotta figure the 2k2 6 speed at the wheels prob has 200-210 at the wheels thats a 40-50 hp advantage to a s/ced auto 2k. Your partly right though this guy could not drive it was real obvious. I should not have spanked him the way I did but I do believe no matter what i'd come out on top. Besides it's nice and cold now plus i have the 17's on for winter so it's feeling frisky

02MaximaSE: I'm willing to bet stillen will not make a kit for the 2k2 not much room in there and there may be a new max in 2k3. besides stillen does not make a s/c kit for all year max's so it woun't be that uncommon.

Deac: it's worth the money...it's also worth the money to get a smaller pulley..I suggest runign 14psi and get a tranny rebuild by level 10

I was at the local dyno shop today, a 95 max here dyno's 330 to the wheels, he has NOS and tons of stuff, he does 12.9, the guy doesnt speak much to anybody, its black and has racing hart C5's.

 

The stock auto is not as bad as what it's made out to be..vb mod makes it ok...level 10 tranny or rebuild will make it even better.

You didn't finally scrape together $50 for a few dyno runs did you? If so, what were the numbers?

I thought you were still afraid of dynoing it.

 

The dyno shop, 4 blocks away from where I live, won't do dynos until mid January because they're working on a project.

I have found other places, but need to give them a call. I'll call tomorrow.

with the way alot of the 2k/2k1 guys change their head/taillights out for 2k2, maybe the run was against another 2k or 2k1? Maybe the guy had loads of $$$ and switched the exhaust, grille, etc.?

Not doubting the story is true, but I find myself wondering if every 2k2 looking Max that I see on the highway really is a 2k2. The best way I've found of telling, at speed is the different headrests for the seats, but given enough money a 2k owner could buy those seats as well.

Here are some cosmetic differences:

- chrome MAXIMA badge on the rear (letters not as slanted and are separated)
- muffler tips
- tail lights
- side skirts (is this stock?)
- headlights
- grille with a fat hamburger Nissan logo

 

It was a 2k2 read all the stuff kev wrote it had all of that, why would some smuck do all of it thats damn chessey.
