Front End - Repairs & Work - Economy's of scale?
Hey folks, been reading the forums a lot last couple days tracking down various issues. Finally got over a big hurdle of replacing many electronic components (Starter, alternator, AC, etc). And now the mechanical related issues are starting to rise up this year. I need to keep the car another year or 2 as a point of reference.
I'm really burnt out on repairing my car personally so I'm looking to take it to a local trusted mechanic to replace the next round of things. What has been suggested right now is Ball Joint, Axle Shaft (Left and Right), and Sway Bar links. They're obviously charging 2x-3x for the parts so I'd like to order via RockAuto (I've had good luck?)
Are the Sway bars end links (I see MOOG via Rock auto) easy to replace?
Anyone have suggestions on economy's of scale, some other components I should consider replacing while the mechanics are working on the car around those areas? I'm not a car expert and reading the forms I got lost a little with the components and how to find some via RockAuto for example.
I have not replaced anything front end, struts, tire rods (I think I heard those were a little loose my last checkup). I see mention of bushings on the form but I'm not familiar with those.
Would really appreciate a hit list I can run to my mechanic, I'm fine with cheap, effective solutions but if its not broken dont fix it right? So I probably dont need to replace my LCA (Which was my first instinct since most people go that route because it includes a ball joint).
Appreciate the help guys, long time fan of the forums. Want to keep the max kicking all the way to 200k+ Miles!
Also, at 145k miles, should I be concerned with replacing wiring/hoses/piping etc within the engine bay? I like to be proactive as possible, breaking down randomly is not appealing.
