So i'm looking into some new pads, I usually just use Nissan OEM pads every time I change. Problem is these last pads didn't even last me 20k miles and to me I would like something better. I still have stock rotors, that have been resurfaced. I was looking into Ceramics for less dust and noise, but was told they could tear up the stock rotors. But when I bought the OEM Nissan ones the rears were Ceramic and the front was semi-metallic. However in my experience with other vehicles I don't think this is 100% true, all pads wear em down. I'm looking at these and hear awesome things about them. Good choice with stock rotors? I'm on a tight budget which is the downfall.

I always like Hawk HPS's but i dont know how they would be on stock rotors. I do remeber though, that through the group deals section, you can get brembo blanks for just a few more dollar than it costs to get your rotors turned down.

 

The brembo blanks work just fine, but they also rust like Tin Man in the rain. I used the Hawk Ceramics for a few years, and thought they were noticeably better than OEM for the couple of years I had them.

For about a year now, I've been running Centric rotors and Hawk HPS (not ceramics), and couldn't be happier. Well, I could be happier if I upgraded to a BBK... but for OEM calipers on the 5th gen, Centric & Hawk is a pretty decent, cost-effective upgrade to OEM specifications.

Keep in mind, when someone says "noticeably better" (like I just did), that's an opinion based on worn brakes as compared to brand new brakes... because there's just no way to dredge up a perfect memory for side-by-side comparison. Still, I like my current setup very much.

 

I have had a few other car people recommend the centric rotors and axis brake pads. I know at one time there where a few people on here using the axis pads.

 

Duralast gold pads/rotors worked well for me

 

Centric rotors(blanks) and Hawk Ceramics, so far so good.

 

How good are O Reilly's Brake Best Select Ceramics? Anybody use those before?

 

I also have Centric blank rotors with Hawk ceramic pads. They bite hard from any speed. Only other setup I have had is the warped, rusted out brakes that were on the car from when I purchased it, so anything would feel and look better than that. But overall im very pleased with this setup.

I have these akebono + frozen rotors in the front. Dusting is minimal and stopping is good.

Considering changing the rear OEM to frozen and akebono also.
