I like it, Chino. Need close-up shots to really see what you're doing; (without the watermark) like around the raised letters. But it makes a good first impression.

If you're going to start detailing that engine bay, you've got some work ahead of you.

It is, I tried to get a manufacturer to do it but it fell through and since i haven't seen an AE Cover in CF weather real or wrapped figured it would be something new

I will as soon as I "iron" out some of the more noticeable imperfections oh and trust me I know that engine bay will never be near as clean as yours

Look forward to an update! What CF wrap did you use? I was going to buy some from these guys> http://www.metrorestyling.com/login.asp

I'm really really leary about getting anything CF for my car though, I know one thing will lead to more, and then I will have to go all out Panda styles

The cover matches too much with the bland grey color scheme of the rest of the engine bay so it doesn't really pop out or look too nice to me.

Its not for everyone and i agree there is no real "pop" but thats because my engine bay is in major need of a detail.

Chino, I didn't start detailing my engine bay until the last couple of years. That means for nearly 8 years (!!), I pretty much ignored that aspect of the car, believe it or not.

You're a graphic artist. You're all about details, so it should come naturally to you.

I removed the Nissan emblem (notice I haven't put it back yet), you can't remove the "V6" and the "3000" i was going to attempt to remove but wasn't sure if I was going to damage anything or leave a hole on the cover...as I said not completely done, have to put the nissan back in there and of course my engine bay has to be cleaned and add a few little things here and there

You could always shave the "V6 3000", sand it down smooth, and the wrap should cover it over nicely. And then on the outside of the wrap, in the same place, adhere the MAXIMA trunk badge lettering.

Eh? That sounds really nice as I'm thinking about it right now. Look at the image again below with that in mind.

Yes sir thought about that but the "V6" is raised from the plastic itself, so sanding it down will get me a nice "V6" hole

I bet you $50 at a trusted body shop could take care of that easily.

rroderiquis77 had the large V6 3.5 professionally shaved and filled and sanded smooth before his cover was painted.

To be honest I did search on other forums (lexus & porsche) and they said it holds up, but I will probably only put it on just for "show"

If shaving the letters is out, and you can't adjust the wrap around the V6 3000, then you're really out of options...

...unless you get out the exacto knife and cut the wrap to the edges of the raised letters, which actually looks very do-able, based on these cel phone pictures. Have you considered that?

I don't understand this. Why would shaving the V6 down be any different than shaving the '3000' down? Or are you saying the V6 is 'pressed' in from the back of the cover?

That would be pretty tough to do, there is a craft tool blade you can buy that is basically a point (like a pen), they are hard to find, but maybe you could do it with that...
A razorblade though.... hmmm not easy, at least, not very cleanly. It's possible though just very tough to get really really clean cut

yes sir, the "V6" is pressed from the back where the "3000" seems to just be placed ontop of the cover

I was trying to figure out what a "chinoXclusive" was, when I realized this is Chino's very first 5th gen forum thread.

Aw-w-w. Isn't that special?

Yeah thinking about it, going to see how it looks after I clean the engine bay a bit and add some small goodies, have some more wrap so will probably wrap all the caps and covers here and there

Will never look as clean as ROCHESTER, lol, but lets see what happens as soon as the weather gets warmer here in NY

CF wrap on the caps? I'm hard pressed to see how you could do a 90 degree wrap on a circular edge against a ribbed surface with raised lettering on the top. Chino, I don't think you thought this idea all the way through... but good luck with that.

If it's the yellow that's bugging you (and rightly so), you could paint the caps. But that will always look, well, painted.

Another option is to simply replace them with Murano caps, which are identical, but black.
