i was driving home from a friends house and it was the first time ive ever driven on this road, and i was goin over this hill and i thought it was goin straight but it was turning to the right, and as i went over the hill i kept goin straight then i slid in the grass, went through a fence and then went down a hill and hit a tree....it was pourin the rain, so far the damage dont look to bad, kinda looks like what it did when i first got it and fixxed it up...but it is what it is, im just glad i dont have a lot of money in the max....but yeah i should have it back on the road around may or so....just one of the perks of workin at a bodyshop, and having a awesome boss but so far engine dont look damaged, subframe is fine, the drivers side needs pulled, my roof is buckled, and i think my head hit the windsheild., but im uploading pics an im either gonna buy another parts car or a front clip,

Trees are always mocking our cars

You can hit them as hard as you want and they won't move.

Frame rail looks like it got pounded... You sure it's not a total loss? Probably never be the same if you repair it.

invest the money into another car or project..IMO that would probably be money better spent then spent on a car thats already totaled. Just upgraded to altima 3.5 sl...after owning my 00 max se of 7 yrs. And no buyers remorse whatsoever..just saying..up to you though man..gl with the repairs if you decide to do it. :-D

yeah i was thinkin that but i can have another 1500 in it and have her back on the road again....and have it better than before, yet again the perks of working at body shop, i get good discounts on parts and stuff. but yeah i allready have the paint, windshield and roof already to go, im just waiting on my tax money to come back so i can start ordering more parts....not the first time its been fixxed, last time i fixxed it, it was in worse condition, but honestly this is the cheaper way for me to keep it, i know other will disagree but who cares.....but ill keep ya posted with the repairs...

glad you are ok. i've gotten into accident by myself two weeks ago at 12mph..... (that sucks )

just a recommendation - fix it, drive for a bit and sell (or sell after fixing or partout).

i would love to get rid of mine and get another one, but have no money for other one...

it's your own way - do whatever you count better

Definitely good lol. Working in a body shop give's you an 'insider's edge' somewhat (I'd assume). You could probably get parts/paint wholesale?

ever been on a firebird or mustang forum? I also remember a bunch of wet weather accident threads. Had one myself

to the OP, good luck with the car. I'd be scared to touch it after that.

I'm with you man. I don't know what everyone is freaking out about. Sure, if the insurance was involved this would be a total. New parts alone you're probably looking at over $4000, add labor for repair and paint...easily another $3-$4000. Car's only worth maybe $6000. But if you can get parts for under 2k, and painting labor is free or near free, you can fix this up real nice, noone would be the wiser.

I'm curious why the new roof. Is it because of the sunroof you can't reshape/pull the old one? That is going to add to the labor to fix...welding on a new roof... But it's all good experience. You're going to paint the whole car, right? Same color, or you going to shift to a different tone?

Point to everyone else, if this was 7 years ago the car would be only a couple years old. Even the insurance company with its new parts would fix this...and it would run fine.

yeah, well long story short, i got the car last year wrecked and in worst shape....it was in a flood and had hail damage all over it....we i tried to fix the roof the best to my abilities and it turn out okay..fixed everything, painted it and started driving it, 6 months later bammm i hit a tree and my bondo and stuff cracked off. instead of going through hell and back to try and save the roof, im just going to put a new roof on it....im going to have about 2-2500 in it cause im going to replace a bunch of stuff while im at it and a front clip with all the body panels and bumper and other stuff like that is only 1200, i painting a completely different color, using scrap paint from work, so its free, then im going to be airbrushing some things into it..

Haaa...laughing at the cracked bondo on the roof...

Yeah, it makes a lot more sense now to replace the whole thing. With a sun roof again though right?

Remember those progress pictures...I'm very intrigued on the look after the roof is off, and how the welds go.

Since you're going to town, did you consider making this a rag top???

no me personally i never liked my sun roof, i happen to have a good roof skin w/o a sunroof and a good headliner with out the sun roof, but yeah i never like my sunroof cause it never worked anyways, plus its a pain in the but to put back in. but im goin to visit my uncle for a week before he deploys back to the war, so after that im goin to start the repairs. hopefully everything comes around again.but i got a lot of plans for my car. im going to fix my custom engine torque dampener, get the rest of my powersteering mess outta there ,and finish converting my rack to a manual rack, pull the motor and tranny, new clutch, and lightweight flywheel, udp, headers, and repaint my engine bay might do a wire tuck to while im at it
