P0300 Code, New Coils?
P0300 Code, New Coils?
So now after the replacement of the UIM, LIM, and valve cover gaskets replacement the car is throwing this code for random misfires. I pulled the coils and they are really old looking and faded so I'm guessing they've never been replaced.
So should I just save myself the headache and replace all 6 coils? I found some beck/arnley ones on rockauto for about $330 shipped to my door, also some on ebay for $175 shipped (but I don't think ebay is such a good idea for ignition coils)
What you guys think?

i got some used ones for my rear...(3 total) replaced it...my car hasnt skipped since *knock on wood* you could get used ones, but i highly recommend if you buy new, go to the dealer. which cylinder is misfiring. i know its either 1,3, or 5
have you cleared the code? if not clear it and see what pops back up..or you could just wait until it becomes more obvious via code which one it is. its usually teh rear ones that go bad though. did you do your plugs?
Go get yourself a 6 pack (OEM only) and new plugs (NGK) and give a new life to your engine.. trust me a great investment.
U will recover the $350 over a yr in MPG savings..
I have new ngk plugs in and I have no idea if the previous owner changed the coils since the ones in the car are all grey dot I'm assuming they must have been changed since I just read that the no dots were the original faulty ones.
i have to agree, i did get better gas mileage...i'm now doing about 24-25mpg mixed/city driving and i did about 27 mpg on highway...better than the 22mpg mixed/city and 24mpg highway i was getting...
i now average at least 400 miles to a tank...not to mention i found a spot with non ethanol premium gas....W00T

Once P0300 starts there will be an imminent coil failure pointing to the right coil P030x soon. But in the case of the OP he has a lot of miles on his coils -- piece meal replacement based on the coild code is shortsighted and opportunistic.
I would replace all and move on...

No not a baller at all but I never just replace one of anything I always replace all, plus I got the car for a low price so I can afford some of the extras. Btw how much are they going to run me? I've been told $350 or so or did someone send me off?
I had same code last year. Replaced rear 3 coils and haven't had a code for coils/misfire since. I replaced other 3 following month to be safe. If one is starting to go the rest can't be far behind. Just my .02
its usually the rear coils that go bad first anyway..think about the heat that those coils are exposed to...but i've only replaced one coilpack (same cylinder i mean) since i've had the car, almost no need to replace the front....NOW you say why i called you a baller LOL
Just ordered all 6 coils off ebay they are the same as OE the Hashin ones same part number and all even call Nissan to Verify the part # and the brand so it is possible to find exact OEM piece for a very good price....
Will put it when I get home, right now at work using cell phone will have to check also for the 00-01 since mine is 03 even seen them at 1A auto.com and they had a 6 pack for under 150 buck think they were out of stock though for your year but will check if the guy I got them off ebay has that year since mine from the dealer they wanted 150 each coil......
Damn trying to find the link where I ordered but doesnt pop up it was from Alaisdeals, cause he only had 2 left when I ordered and for the 00-01 when search they dont pop up....here is one if you want to try they say 100% money back guarantee and has a 6 pack also but you should try one if skeptical since everybody always bags on ebay but goes on it and it all comes from Japan or China anyway, here it is, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2000-...mZ320664653869 so good luck on whatever you decide the 330 from Rockauto aint that bad if you want those.......but here is the Alaisdeals # if you want to try 1-909-724-4397 8am -3pm monday - friday sat I think till 2 pm pacific time...I know this **** is long...

Thanks a lot man definitely appreciate it! Only question I have is what brand is OEM since they all use the same part number even aftermarket so it doesn't do any good to look for them by part number.

Maybe I'll replace the 3 rear now and the 3 front later on.
