I want some maxima owners opinions on this.......

Okay guys so I just sold my 00 max se of 7 yrs and may it R.I.P. Its funny bc when I was in the proccess of buying my car---->altima..the maxima got sold..to a wholesaler i guess was in the area and was interested and purchased the car..crazy how fast it sold and only for 1500..i was kinda salty about that. Its a bummer to bc ya I got a new altima and ya its only got 55k miles, and ya its super fast..but its not a maxima..and I just miss it bc I had such respect for my car and did everything basically myself So I was very proud of owning it as well. I really am going to miss my 2000 hope its got a new safe and good home.

So I just purchased a 05 altima sl. I am really considering doing a se-r conversion to the car. altima ser wheels..spoiler..se-r badge...etc. I am just wondering if anyone has done this or anyone has ever thought of doing so. I really like the look of the se-r and thats the only reason I want to do it so BAD . Really havent made any decisions yet as far as mods go..just going to start with intake and exhaust..maybe caatmann exhaust nismo cai. Or caatmann exhaust and aem intake havent really decided yet.

So heres the REAL reason why I am posting THIS thread...I know it would be kinda of a poser thing to bc it a sl..and not a se-r but if I made it look identical to a se-r no one would know the difference.... ...except me so who cares. So my question is what do you guys think of this idea? I really say whatever makes me happy Ill probably end up doing but Idk i might just leave it stock..I actually specifically purchased the 05-06 bodystyle bc IMO i dont like the way new altimas look..theyre just kinda funky looking. The 06 was the last glking altima unless its a altima coupe 3.5 those are beauties as well. Anyways all feedback and opinions are appreciated and please don't hesitate to comment!!!

Here's a nice pic of the new dd altima..god I love vq power.

If you do all the exterior mods, the only real difference will be the suspension.

But you won't be leaving that stock, now will you?
Given that, it will probably then become an SE-R as it would have the same types of modifications.

There's someone on here with just the standard 3.5 that has exterior of SE-R, its on nismo A34's and looks amazing, think hes in hawaii? See if you cant contact him in here for prices and such.

Sidenote: My brother has that exact same car, hes got SE-R tails, different grille, and some other small mods, looks real nice.

Goodluck with the car!

Personally, I'd do all the SE-R mods and then debadge the car. Nissan puts too much crap on the back of our cars already, wouldn't want to add to the clutter.

I agree with Scottwax. Do the mods but debadge the car. You get the look without the poser factor. I always like the debadged look.

I have Z33 track wheels on my Maxima, and so do a few other people, so basically, we invented the poser status. With that said, do some mods to it and call it good, but don't call it (the car, i.e. SE/SL/SER...)anything.

Insurance cost.

It would be much cheaper overall to make a SE-R out of a 3.5L base.

The difference? You will be hard pressed to do it as cleanly, and the SE-R engine has different tuning/exhuast/intake I thought as well?

Either way, old altima's are ugly except for the SE-R, IMO

I Freaking LOVE the new Altima coupe, that is a work of art, it looks like an G35/37, why would anyone buy a new Maxima when they can buy that?

I disagree. The HP difference between the 3.5 and the SE-R are nominal, 250 vs 260. The jump in insurance risk is from the 2.5 to the 3.5...

i cant stand the altima coupe, and i wouldnt care about insurance cost, it cannot be that much more than owning a 3.5/maxima. maybe $40 at the most...yea, i'd get what i want. but to each his own

Every try telling an insurance company that a Nissan Sentra base model and a Nissan Sentra SE-R have the same HP? And trying to haggle the price based on that?
Or saying a Lancer base model is the same as a Lancer Ralliart? Etc, Etc.

They base it off numbers: how many claims, cost of claims, etc, etc. And also because the SE-R is rare in comparison, the price jumps higher again.

It has NOTHING to do with HP numbers.

Call your insurance company and ask. Maybe you're right.

thanks guys..got to change up the signuatre I Know its HUGE lol is there anyway to resize the images?? also ya ill probably do all the se-r mods and leave the badge off that way I wont seem like a "poser" or "a wanna be se-r". Thanks guys for the comments. Ill probably just end up doing se-r wheels and spoiler and call it a day. After i get the cosmetics done exhaust and intake or should i do that in reverse order...lol thanks again for all the comments can I still participate on the max.org site now that I have an altima or well I be frowned upon?? Either way I would prefer max.org over anything else I was thinking abuot altimas.net or whatever that site is but it seems kinda lame and boring compared to this site. :-/

i am trying to figure that out. I see the arrows when I highlight my pic in the sig but it does not let me resize my image for some odd reason..so guys please do not focus on my singature so much...lol Maybe if someone told me how to actually resize it and make it smaller instead of just yelling at me and telling me its to LARGE I would'nt be hasseled 5x and I could actually resize it..lmfao please anyone???? I know its nice and all and HUGE but its not the issue..I realize its to BIG and thats really not what I am discussing in this thread..and its compeltley off topic....so Sure if you want to do it for me go for it.

+ who cares large pics are always better then small pics so quit hating ppl. lots of the time people post crap pics or small pics that are bogus..so be fortunate that they are visible...but when someone tells me how to resize it I WILL trust me. just relax my maxima brothers...

Altima coupes have a blind spot bigger than a Ford F350. If I can't turn my head and see all around the car, then I can't drive it efficiently. Zs bug me b/c of that. You can't see anything in a 350Z.

So just like Ti Edition Maximas, it may be a Ti, but if it's not Polished Titanium, it's not a true Ti .. so if it's not the crimson blaze type of red...then it's not an SE-R .. then again, this is coming from the guy who thinks he has an A33B Track Edition

fried rice taste great..just not when its on a car. SE-R red is sweet and great but too flashy IMO. I prefer the slate grey/smoked metallic color..thus thats why I got the car I did.

I'd leave the 3.5 Tag, everything else can be argued. I think you'd be foolish to remove that tag though unless you're going for a total shave on the whole car.

And thinking about resale, that little 3.5 tag will increase the price substantially. (sounds dumb but it's true)

I have to admit, I see altima's all the time, and think nothing of them, just another 4 door. When I roll behind one with the 3.5 tag, I go: "oh nevermind, that's an alright car, It'd smoke my 5th gen too so I better let him breathe"

In otherwords, I respect the 3.5 Altimas, and disregard the 2.5's, so that tag, to me, holds a LOT of weight.

^That's a tough thing to admit but it's true, and I know you've all looked at cars in a similar way. See a impreza, big deal, see a WRX, think, nice car, see an STI, think, dam that would be a RIOT to drive, jealousy, etc. I love my Maxima, and usually, I don't care for 'tags', but they can mean a lot. SE-R/GT-R, when we see these badges, we think Performance, Style.
See an old beat up Pulsar, think: What a junker. See an old beat up Pulsar and spot the GT-R, think, man that's a wicked old car.

I haven't taken an Altima coupe out yet, but I've driven/owned a few Zs, 280, 300, 350, 370, I have no complaints about blind spots. It's a sports coupe, it is what it is, drive accordingly... I've driven lots of sedans, sport coupes, and other cars that were much slower and uglier with way worse blind spots.

That would not influence my decision much if I was looking to buy one.

lmfao at 2.5 ^^

so alright guys theres someone selling se-r wheels in the wheels/tires section for 650? wheels have some rash but have all tread left. Does this seem like a fair price is was jwing?? I think its a decent price right?

another guy is selling some for $1000 the wheels are in great condition but only has 50% tread. I am thinking Ill probably go with the cheaper f'd up wheels that I could have re-powdercoated..and those wheels are brand new just the surface is bad..how much would it cost to re-surface or powdercoat the wheels? I can't make up my mind which set I should go with...does anyone have any suggestions?

another guy is asking $1000 for good wheels but only 50% tread..what do you guys think deal or no deal? im thinking im going to go with the nicer wheels and worse tires..rather then bad wheels and 100% tread...does that sound about right guys?

does ANYONE and when i say ANYONE i mean ANYONE in maxima forumland know how much it would cost to get some se-r wheels powdercoated again or just re-surfaced?? I am just curious how much I should anticipate for the "new look" again.

powdercoating itself runs $200...if they have to do anymore they charge for it...get the ones for $650 and refinish them yourself. takes work, but you save a few hundred
