all about insurance

as you guys know the 5th generation maximas are now between 9 to 11 years old,, so is it worth to have collision and comprehensive or just liability ,,i was thinking of dropping coll and comp on my 2001 maxima se and saving on insurance fees on liability,,so what you think ,,if there a loss in an accident ,,they will give you the blue book value which will be less than you ll expect,,,let s hear your inputs on what your coverages are...

Not sure the savings are really all that worth it honestly, it may be different in your area/age but I pay maybe $500/yr total for my 2002 with full coverage.

600 a yr here. Guess it depends on age and other risk factors.

But out of that 1100, how much of it is for the collision coverage? May only be 200-300. It's worth having in most cases. Remember the payout if totaled is the retail, not tradin value, plus they add tax over that. Now if the retail value of the car is only $2000 or less, maybe it's time to drop full coverage.

posting your premiums without the liability, property damage, medical, uninsured and under-insured limits are really worthless!

That's true too. Some may have very low liability, other's carry million dollar coverage for property or medical liability.

Reality is, $100,000 for property, at very minimum $250,000/500,000 for injury liability. It doesn't cost much more for that extra piece of mind that if someone sues with big injury, it's all covered by your policy...
