Shift Button Stuck
Shift Button Stuck
I have a problem with the button on my shifter in my 00' GLE. The shift button doesn't work about 70% of the time. The button won't push in and let me shift out of park. It won't go in all the way until I either jiggle it around for a good 20 times, rapidly tap the brakes 100 times, or finally just be forced to stick something in the little shift lock release.
In extremely warm weather (I'll consider that 60+ degrees here in MA at this time of year), it doesn't act up as much and works first time.
I've taken it apart, cleaned and greased all the little springs and things; my brake lights are working...
any ideas?

somethings probably stuck underneath where the shift lock stuff is located. if I had a pic of the shifter taken apart, i would show you. i remember seeing the underside of the 00 shifter at the junkyard lookin for fog lights. that or a small *** rock got stuck inside the stick part of it
