Engine breakin period
Hey guys, finally have 1100 miles on my 02 SE 6 spd Sterling Mist. It is not my daily driver, so im glad to hopefully have it broke in properly. Is it safe now to drive this beast a little harder and start having some fun? Also, do the steering wheel controls not being lit bug u guys too? It does me. The black cloth is starting to grow on me, maybe i will skip the after market leather after all. Thanks.

I am at 1400 miles and now I drive it hard. Things are starting to loosen up. For example, the shifter seems easier to push around, and the engine sounds happier. The non-lit controls can be better but now I know the button so it's ok.
What does bother me is that the random CD plays the same sequences!

You'll get over those unlit controls soon enough. Once you memorize and get a feel on those buttons you won't even be looking at it anymore.
Honestly? I can't even recall when was the last time i looked at those buttons while driving.

I don't believe Nissan said you need to change after 1,600 miles. The schedule is regular and some people like to switch oil, put in synthetic, etc. It's a matter of preference. My first oil change is scheduled for early Feb. and if I take it in now they might wonder what I am doing.

Please don't flame me guys, but I didn't even bother with the break-in period of my '02. I actually raced my friend home from the dealership. My car also seems to run better than most 2K2's - could it be a coincidence - who know's. I think my car is like a good dog; teach it to be a bully from the start, and he'll be beatin' up on other 2K2's.
