I don't think Konis are officially desinged for 5th gen Maximas, but many people has them on their 5th gen. The KYB and Tokicos are direct bolt ons for the Maxima, which means you do not need to cut the stock struts when installing the. THis is a good thing because if you are selling your car, you can put on the stock AE suspension and sell the KYB.
I recommend KYB because they are more dedicated to performance than Tokico.

well...
I have an AE an i have eibachs on it......with stock shocks....the ride is fine....i wanted to lower it and then put kyb's on after the shocks wear out....i think you should let your factory shocks wear out then get new ones...if you change springs and shocks at same time..you will be taking off perfectly good shocks and you wont be able to do anything with them.....get the most out of them by doing the shocks and springs separately......i have eibachs and the ride quality is fine.....youll be good..trust me...check out my site!

hummmmm
i have had my eibachs on for almost 2000 miles...cost me $130 to get installed at a local import body shop.....my car has 11500 miles total on it....the ride quality is smoother than stock on smooth roads..but kinda bumpy on "really" bumpy roads...the handling is great...looks very good with AE kit.....but the ride is fine......girls dont seem to complain
i would definently do what i did..you wont regret it....
