best looking grill 02 max

I have a 02 Maxima with a light hit in the front. The gril is teh last part i need. Whats a good looking aftermarket grill? I only found billet rice grills on ebay. Is there a good looking aftermarket grill or should I just go with stock? Thanks

Stock is the best IMO. I wanted a change so I painted mine gloss black w/ clearcoat. I love it. This isn't the best pic.. it looks much better in person but you get the point.

I have the same exact setup as ^. Either that or the C-mod grille which is burgerless.

I used to have it matte black, but the sun murdered it.

The c-mod grille is interesting, and it looks like you can get creative with the wire mesh backing; (different mesh, paint, etc.)

I'm not sure if I've ever seen good pictures of the carbon fiber c-mod grille. It would be cool to see if people started posting pictures of their c-mod grille.

plasti dip is pretty resistant and you can always peel and repaint

You've heard rumors of my demise, maybe?

I keep swinging around to the idea of getting a c-mod grille, having it professionally painted, etc. I've love to see some inspirational photos.

papo99, do you have any pics of the grille from a lower POV?

I'm curious what the mesh looks like. And I'm curious about the center support piece in the bumper skin, which would likely have to get painted black.

That's coming from someone who likes the '2 bar' style grill, so I'm not sure exactly why I dislike this so much, I know in the first picture it's the cheap looking mesh, very ricey IMO. Perhaps it's the lack of support bars/fins that are presant on the OEM grill. I don't know what it is, but I just don't like those pics....

Either way thanks for posting them

^ I think a coat of plasti dip on the upper and lower grille to match would look sick with what you have going on!

Stock painted black or body color is the best. For some reason the grille just doesn't look right without the burger to me. That little piece really does a lot to break up the whole front end a little bit and make it look complete.

It's a catch 22... The stock burger is too big. It's like the freaking bat-symbol. But Without it, just 2 bars (c-mod/jdm) ~ is too plain, the body lines that are drawn go nowhere, and it takes the flow out of the front end.
However, like I said, I do like the burger-delete. I've re-examined it and the reason why is now obvious. I've taken these pictures from Rochesters thread for clarification:

Stock Grill:

Burger Delete:

JDM grill:

After comparison, it's very clear that:
1.The mesh looks ghay, and doesn't match the overall 'class' that our front end posesses. It clashes tremendously with the rest of the car.
2.Without the stock fins and support, especially the little 'v' shaped bar at the bottom, the whole grill just doesn't flow. 2 bars is not enough, those fins follow the flow of the car, break up the 2 faily large 'Bars', and bring some order to the table.
3.The paint, the C-mod is all the same colour. The OEM had different paint for the fins, etc. This can obviously be fixed, but is one of the things that looks strange also.

In short, IMO: burger delete looks good, c-mod/jdm looks weird and doesn't flow properly.

Burger Delete would look better if the lower triangular vertical piece were carried through the middle and the top.

I forgot about that photoshop thread.

agreed, when viewed at that angle it's painfully obvious that it was hacked out. I think you can do it without hacking everything out but I don't know what that would look like...

I've been meaning to Plasti Dip mine. I assume the grill is pretty easy to get out? Car isn't here at the moment but I'm hoping I don't have to remove all sorts of other crap.

Very easy. Three 10mm bolts and some clips and it's out. Not even a five minute job.

See if the portion of the bars that is horizantal'ish' was painted flat black it wouldn't look so bad. But there, it just doesn't flow properly, looks like the grill is trying to jump out at me, too much 3D effect.

Just my opinion anyways..

Heavy mesh type of grille:

It's an old JMS (out of business) but it shouldn't be too hard to replicate. Attachment is simple, just a few zip ties and it's on. Sorry it doesn't photograph too well.
