2K3 interior questions
I finally found a donor car to swap my 2K1 seats
I know the 5.5 seats are better in terms of support than my 5th gen seats.
Anyone know what other interior bits of the 5.5 gen are worth moving over to my 5th gen? Any center console pieces, roof or side trim etc?

I dont know if this is compatible with the 5th gens, but if the 2k3 rear view mirror has a compass, that'd be pretty sweet to have. I bought one off of a member here and put it in my 2k2. In any case if yours doesnt have auto dim and tilt, i believe the 2k3 has it

I'll def keep an eye out for the rear view mirror too.
I'm going from tan 5th gen to tan 5.5 gen seats... From the pics the guy says they are insurance quality with no rips or tears... I shall find out in about 8 hours

mirror was already gone...
i picked up the seats this morning... i hv to say even in the state they are in... the leather actually feels better than my 5th gen leather... the good thing is .. the donor car an 03 gle had only 62K on it...
now once i get home tonight... have to start the process of cleaning and reconditioning the leather
pics will be uploaded tonight!

5.5 Gen seats in!!
First impression... FREAKING awesome compared to the 5th gen seats!
The thigh support and the side bolsters are so much better. The 5.5 gen seats almost support you from lower to mid back where the 5th gen only supported the lower back.
I had to refer to some old threads, the most helpful being:
http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...xima-help.html
Basically, I dont have memory and heated seats so I simply hooked up the following:
Power from car connector to red/white and yellow/blue on the memory seat connector.
There are 4 black wires going to the memory seat harness. You need to use a continuity tester or multitester and find out which 2 actually goto the harness. The other 2 are for the seat belt connector and the other for the heated seat.
Connect these 2 black wires to the negative of the car connector.
The seat connector from the car harness fits into the seat connector on the memory seats.
I do not have side air bags so I left those disconnected. The sockets for those are yellow so if your car has them, you would need to hook those up.
All in all, it feels awesome with this spruced up interior, I always felt the 5th gen seats never supported me well enough. The side bolsters were useless on the lower seat and the seat back did not offer good back support. I always slid around left and right when cornering.
With the 5.5 gen seats you feel like the seats are gripping you and supporting you in the right places. Not as heavy in bolstering as the sport buckets in my 330ci but really good for a normal 4 door car.
If there is anyone on the fence about this... go sit in a 5.5 gen... you will def start looking for a new set of seats!

Pics .... sorry about the quality... cell phone pics inside garage.
1. Passenger seat installed first... easiest of the lot
2. Passenger seat 5.5 and driver seat 5th gen
3. Rear shot of the front seats... see how much larger the 5.5 gen seat is compared to the 5th gen... reason why they are so much more supportive
4. Rear seats...
5. Drivers seat also done....

lol... u shall laugh... $165 including tax... the seats had been removed by the recycling shop and kept ready for pickup... I had to clean them up and recondition them a tad bit using woolite and then a lot of lexol.....
I jumped on this one since they had the car only for 33 days on the lot so i knew the seats may not have been exposed to bad weather
