Hey guys...recently put a Pioneer AVH4200DVD into my 02 GLE...the unit powers up and can be listened to, but theres no screen or button illumination. Ive gone over my connections about 6 times now, even taking it all the way out and reinstalling with the same outcome. Checked fuse under hood for radio and its fine, as I expected since it powers up. Anyone else ever had this issue? What do you guys think?

 

Two things:

1. Ensure you have the 12v constant and 12v Accessory wires properly wired. I assume they are if you had a wiring adaptor.

2. Ensure the faceplate is fully seated to the HU.- Disregard this. I looked up this unit and obviously you don't have a faceplate.

If still no go, looks like you got a defective HU.

 

Disconnect the wire for the dimmer also check if this unit has a blackout mode.if theres a blackout mode you will hear and use functions but no display will be seen

 

thanks guys..the unit came out of my Expedition and was in use not even a week ago, thats why I dont think its defective...andI dont think its the blackout mode because the illumination isnt lit either for the buttons. Im going to tear dash apart again tomorrow and disconnect illumination wire. Just has me stumped...

 

i hv the 4300 in my 01 gle.
i did not hook up the dimmer wire at all.

thanks alot!! The two units are identical from what Ive heard...only difference being some cosmetic differences in the software...hopefully I can get mine up and running tomorrow...
